
Host (Telus Club)
The Host is responsible for creating a positive first impression for the customers by sincerely welcoming all restaurant guest, maintaining excellent customer relations, ensuring table availability, and maintaining a clean and organized restaurant appearance.
Functions (Purpose and Responsibilities)
Greets and seats customers at a clean and properly set table with a minimum delay;
Assist guests on a Waiting List by keeping any waiting guests relaxed and informed of wait times;
Maintain Waiting and Reservation Lists and coordinates seating;
Present the wine list and menu to the guests and describe any feature items and the mode of service;
Receive telephone calls in a timely manner and handle all inquiries appropriately;
Maintain the host station by keeping it clean and organized with accurate records as required;
Ensure table availability through communication with the servers and bussers;
Accurately convey any special billing instructions to the servers;
Assist in the clearing and resetting of tables to maximize table availability;
Ensure adequate stock of napkins, glassware, cutlery, and china are at the service stations;
Assist the servers in their sections by pouring and refilling water or coffee as needed;
Assist with the set-up and tear-down of the restaurant before and after a service;
Ensure the general appearance of the restaurant is maintained at a high standard;
Actively participate in safety programs and follow polices;
Ensure that lighting and temperature are maintained to a comfortable level;
Wipe and refill cruets and sugar caddies at the end of each shift;
Adherence to CSEC four pillars
All other duties as assigned.
Competencies
The ideal candidate will have the following background:
Prior food and beverage service is required;
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple guests and suites at once;
Strong interpersonal and team work skills;
Exemplary customer service skills;
Schedule flexibility to work evening and weekend shifts.
Certifications
Must be ProServe certified and be 18 years of age or older;
High school diploma is considered and asset.
