We are recruiting for part-time, game night staff for the Orlando Magic, Osceola Magic, and Orlando Solar Bears. What our Part-Time hiring process is like:

While every position is different, our part-time hiring process is typically a two-step process, sometimes more depending on the nature of the role. After you apply, your resume will be reviewed by our hiring manager for that particular role.

After interviews have been conducted, candidates whom the hiring manager selected will be contacted by our Talent Acquisition team. Candidates who are not selected to move forward will be contacted via email. We would love to call 100% of the candidates, however we typically interview well over 250 candidates during this part-time hiring week, and we want to give every candidate the decision as soon as possible.

A quick summary about the Part-Time A1 Audio Engineer role:

The part-time A1 Audio Engineer is responsible for overseeing the set-up, strike, and operation of the audio mixer in support of the Osceola Magic games at the Osceola Heritage Park Arena in Kissimmee, FL., the Orlando Magic Basketball games, Orlando Solar Bears Hockey games, and other events at KIA Center in Orlando, FL.

What the position will be responsible for:

  • Setting up, operating, and striking the mixer, wireless and wired microphones, and other audio equipment for the approximately 28 Osceola Magic home games.
  • Create a live mix for the arena and a broadcast mix.
  • Provide backup A1 support for Orlando Magic Games, Orlando Solar Bears games, and other events at KIA Center as needed.
  • Work with the Lead Audio Engineer and Assistant Director of AV Services to establish audio needs for a show/event.
  • Determine the equipment required to support the show/event successfully.
  • Prepare and deploy audio equipment to specified event locations for audio support.
  • Set up microphones, cabling, monitors, and other audio equipment required to support live audio aspects of a show/event.
  • Ensure microphones are ready and assigned to performers/speakers at the appropriate time.
  • Quickly troubleshoot problems that may arise.
  • Able to perform minor repairs and modifications of AV equipment during show/event.
  • All other duties as assigned.

What is required for the role:

  • College degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • An understanding of appropriate audio levels for a large arena PA system, including music, live microphones, video playback, and crowd prompts.
  • An understanding of building a broadcast mix and how it differs from a live mix.
  • Extensive experience with Yamaha digital audio consoles. Specifically, the CL/QL line of mixers
  • Experience with setting up and troubleshooting Shure wireless microphones.
  • Five years of mixing live audio experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of audio signal flow principles and troubleshooting.
  • Familiar with Dante audio routing.

Physical requirements

    • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and crouch for long periods
    • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
    • Ability to work at heights up to 100 feet
    • Ability to work in small, cramped places
    • Ability to push equipment racks and carts long distances
