We are recruiting for part-time, game night staff for the Orlando Magic, Osceola Magic, and Orlando Solar Bears. What our Part-Time hiring process is like:

While every position is different, our part-time hiring process is typically a two-step process, sometimes more depending on the nature of the role. After you apply, your resume will be reviewed by our hiring manager for that particular role.

After interviews have been conducted, candidates whom the hiring manager selected will be contacted by our Talent Acquisition team. Candidates who are not selected to move forward will be contacted via email. We would love to call 100% of the candidates, however we typically interview well over 250 candidates during this part-time hiring week, and we want to give every candidate the decision as soon as possible.

A quick summary about the Part-Time Audio Engineer (A2) role:

The A2 Audio Engineer is primarily responsible for working with the A1/Lead Audio Engineer to pre-plan, set, operate, and strike sound systems that support events at the KIA Center. The primary support is for Orlando Magic basketball games. However, other events include Orlando Predators arena football games, other Orlando Magic events, commencement ceremonies, and various other events.

What the position will be responsible for:

  • Manage wireless microphones for hosts, vocalists, and other performers.
  • Manage in-ear monitor systems for hosts and performers.
  • Manage other audio inputs, including microphones, instruments, and band inputs.
  • Manage soundchecks with performers and stage managers.
  • Ensure microphones are ready and assigned to performers/speakers at the appropriate time.
  • Work with A1 to quickly troubleshoot problems that may arise.
  • Tear down audio equipment and return it in a safe and timely manner.
  • Swing out the A1 by operating the console during an event.
  • Able to perform minor repairs and modifications to audio equipment during show/event.
  • All other duties as assigned.

What is required for the role:

  • College degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with live bands required.
  • Significant experience with digital audio consoles required.
  • 3+ years of live audio experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of audio signal flow principles and troubleshooting
  • Experience with Shure wireless microphones, Yamaha CL/QL consoles preferred.
  • Exhibit good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision, be self-directed, and demonstrate initiative.
  • Strong team synergy skills and ability to work collaboratively with others you have no direct authority over.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and be on-call as necessary based on the changing priorities of the department.

Physical requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and crouch for long periods
  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding
  • Ability to lift in excess of 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in heights over 100 feet
  • Ability to work in small cramped places
  • Ability to push equipment racks and carts long distances
