The Chicago Bulls organization is building a future-looking marketing capability that applies a combination of data, technology, community and creativity to drive fan development and support organizational growth. The Marketing group is made up of four teams - Integrated Marketing, Digital Marketing, Product and Brand & Fan Development. This Coordinator role sits on the Brand & Fan Development team, with a focus on building on our iconic brand and cultivating our global fanbase to support future organization wide growth. This is a new team, so we're looking for someone who is passionate about the opportunity to build something new!

This team has two priorities - setting and presenting the strategic direction of our brand (including brand voice, attributes, adjacencies) and deepening our team’s relationship with our fanbase. Both of these are key strategic areas for our future growth. Our brand comes to life through the work of multiple departments/functions and touch points, so this role is about ensuring teams are aligned on brand direction and voice as well as influencing these activities. Natural collaborators who think in frameworks and are insight and data-led will likely succeed in the role.

This role reports into the Brand and Fan Development Manager. It is essential that the individual has a strong attention to detail and organizational skills along with and an understanding of the Bulls brand. While the person in this role need not be a lifelong fan, they should understand fandom and have a sense of the nature of what our brand means to individuals all over the world. They also need a strong appreciation for the sport of basketball and the role that it plays in modern lifestyle culture.

In this role, you will collaborate with numerous departments across the Bulls front office to support the development of strategy and activation of initiatives focused on the Bull's brand developing their fanbase. This candidate will have brand background, a passion for story telling and be able to work in the fast-paced environment of a professional sports organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Brand and Fan Development Manager in execution of organization wide brand and fan development projects, including brand campaigns and large scale events.

  • Support execution of retail and youth marketing programs, events and activations including but not limited to the Bulls Kid Nation Kids Club and retail collaborations.

  • Assist in building our brand books, reflective of current brand thinking around brand purpose, positioning, attributes, style guide and brand adjacencies. Assist with communicating this effectively internally to ensure alignment on the direction of the brand.

  • Support the larger Marketing team in org-wide working group settings, including participation in discussion and driving next steps.

  • Partner with other Marketing team coordinators to ensure the function is performing at a high level in everything that it does.

  • Assist with managing a Seasonal associate’s day-to-day responsibilities and skills development.

Qualifications:

  • Previous brand marketing experience is crucial. Experience in sports is not required, but candidates with a natural passion for sports (especially basketball) and a strong understanding of fandom will have an advantage.

  • Bachelor’s degree or related work experience in Marketing, Communications or related field

  • 1+ years of full-time relevant work/academic or internship experience in brand and/or marketing.

  • Excellent writing, proofreading and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Highly skilled in project management, specifically working on large project implementations that require collaboration to meet deadlines and deliverables.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and flexibility to work within a rapidly changing environment.

  • Ability to communicate articulately and confidently with individuals at every level of the organization both written and verbally.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects at once.

  • A strong sense of modern-day marketing standard processes, including understanding how digital platforms influence fandom.

  • A natural blend of left brain and right brain thinking. As comfortable working in Excel as they are in brainstorming.

  • Flexible schedule with ability to work evenings and weekends as required.

  • While workplace flexibility is an option for this role, full-time remote is not, so you should be based in (or prepared to move to) Chicago.
