Manager of Partnership Development

Are you someone who thrives in a dynamic and fast paced environment? Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) is looking for a Manager of Partnership Development to join our team!

This person will be a revenue generator, passionate about crafting innovative solutions for next-generation HSE partners. HSE includes the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets, NBA G-League’s Greensboro Swarm, NBA 2K League’s Hornets Venom GT, and the region’s premier sports and entertainment venue, the Spectrum Center.

This sales position is encouraged to have a regional and local contact list to maximize the current growth opportunities in the vibrant Charlotte market.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive revenue through the creation of solutions-based, customized, innovative partnerships, across HSE properties including the Charlotte Hornets, G League affiliate Greensboro Swarm and NBA 2K League affiliate, Hornets Venom GT
  • Consistently exceed daily outreach and appointment targets while using traditional and innovative interpersonal communication tactics
  • Close new six and seven figure multi-year integrated partnerships that will aid in meeting and exceeding yearly corporate partnership revenue targets set by the Leadership Team
  • Maintain and continually grow the company’s prospective partner pipeline
  • Form relationships with prospects’ gatekeepers and key company decision-makers, as well as internally with key internal stakeholders and building partners.
  • Develop customized integrated proposals for prospective clients with Digideck software
  • Compile, report, enter, collect, forecast, and track accurate partnership assets, billing details, and contract information, as well as reports pertaining to outreach, proposals, contracts, budgets and other account details into Tableau, Kore Connect CRM and other data driven resources utilized by HSE
  • Prepare documents as needed, including expense reports, account budgets, memos, letters, contracts, spreadsheets, and other traditional business tools
  • Support HSE’s mission, vision, and purpose
  • Mentor interns
  • Always represent HSE and its related affiliates in a professional manner
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned

Game Day Responsibilities

  • Host prospective partners and ensure accurate execution of partnership assets
  • Assist Partnership Activation team or Executive Leadership as needed
  • Identify potential areas of opportunity to further drive revenue
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills, Experience, and Abilities

To perform essential job functions, you should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Higher education degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, Marketing or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional sales experience, preferably in the sports industry with an emphasis on corporate partnerships.
  • Corporate partnerships, digital, entertainment and media sales experience preferred
  • Possess regional contact list while focusing on growing partnership base in the Charlotte metro
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Excel), and Kore/Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Digideck presentation platform experience preferred
  • Ability to develop customized, fully integrated partnership proposals
  • Professional and persuasive presentation skills
  • Proven record of selling and fostering sizable and customized partnerships through a thoughtful, solutions-based approach
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays for games and events, as needed, and occasional travel is required
  • Ability to organize work efficiently, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities
  • Tactful in communication; can handle sensitive and confidential information
