Team Attendant, Greensboro Swarm

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Greensboro Swarm is seeking a high-energy individual to support the Swarm basketball operations staff with all team related game operations. This position is a game night part-time position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Pre-Game

• Meet, instruct, and describe all duties and responsibilities to YMCA ball-kids
• Set up Home and Visiting team locker rooms prior to teams arriving to Field house
• Visitor's team attendant will find out what the visiting team's needs are for the game
• Clean and fully stock Gatorade carts with coolers and towels prior to game time, then take to courtside before teams come out of final meetings with injury ice jugs
• Stock both ball carts, which will be at half court for both teams, with NBA game balls
• Collect all balls and take ball carts to locker room prior to the National Anthem
• Prepare pre-game hot packs and put by benches
• Deliver any team ticket requests to the Swarm will-call window and ensure will-call envelopes are complete
• Both Team Attendants will stay on court to rebound and help coaching staffs (No cell phones)
• Place slip mats at center court; place mops and 4 Gatorade towels at each basket
• Both Team Attendants must be available at all times for home & visiting team
• Set up the game officials’ locker room with towels, hot packs, and waters
• Assist with anything game officials may need, typical arrival time is 1hr prior to game time

In-Game

• You will attend to all players and coaching staff needs
• Team Attendants must always be at the bench
• Keep at least 4 latex gloves in pocket at all times
• Collect and stack all warm up gear from players as well as fold pants and shirts
• Upon player checking into game, collect the player's gear at scorer’s table and return it to the bench to be folded
• Upon player checking out of game, make sure player has a towel, gear, and drink
• Prior to timeout huddle, give each player that was in game a towel and always have 1 or 2 extra for certain player’s needs
• Prior to timeout huddle distribute water and Gatorade, then wipe floor after the timeout is over; Collect all used towels and make sure nothing is left at scorer’s table
• Lead YMCA ball-kids during the game to help them handle their responsibilities
• Ball-kid that works baskets will tend to all wet spots (TA will assist when needed)
• If there is blood on a player uniform, notify Athletic Trainer immediately (Use latex gloves on hand to use peroxide spray then dispose in biohazard container behind bench if needed)
• Take ball cart to half-court at halftime before teams begin warming up
• Take towel bin to locker room to be re-stocked for second half; Start washer for used towels
• Distribute drinks, ice, heat packs, and any other needs
• Check on Officials at their locker room and attend to any needs

Post-Game

• Collect all team equipment from court
• Visiting Team Attendant will collect all visiting team equipment and take to their locker room ASAP
• Home Team Attendant will collect all uniforms, warm-ups, and loops promptly to be washed
• Clean out equipment and trash from locker room for the next day
• Collect all Swarm supplied items and return to equipment room (Gatorade coolers, hangers, mops, sticky mat, etc.), wipe down all Gatorade carts and coolers
• Collect all items provided to game officials and clean out all equipment and trash
• Stock refrigerators for the next day; Notify Swarm staff if anything is in low supply
• Log hours worked

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND ABILITIES

To perform the job successfully, you should demonstrate the following competencies:

• Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Arrive 2.5hrs before game time
• Outgoing personality with good communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidential information
• Maintain professional attitude and image at all times
• Must be able to work all 24 Swarm home games which includes nights, weekends, and holiday
