Position Overview:

The Chicago Fire Football Club (CFFC) is seeking a highly motivated and responsible individual to deliver

and/or assist in academic support for the u16 and u18 Academy Day Program for the Spring 2025

season, which runs from February through May.

The Intern must be a role model to student athletes and work collaboratively with Academy staff. The

person must embody the vision, mission, and core values of the Chicago Fire Football Club and needs to be adaptable and organized to effectively execute daily/weekly/monthly job tasks that may take place in various locations around Chicago and the suburbs. This part-time role will primarily be schedule Monday through Thursday for twenty hours per week.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and facilitate educational support in various academic spaces while encouraging the continued progress of the student athletes, (focus on high school core classes): Algebra, Chemistry, Geometry, Physics, and English
    • Specialize in positive redirection and continued encouragement of completion of academic assignments
    • Monitor players’ daily progress though core curriculum and encourage increased levels of productivity
    • Frequently conduct 1:1 checks in with student athletes that have been falling behind in work completion
    • Work with smaller groups of students for reinforcing the learning process
    • Lead application and usage of tutoring resources provided by online schooling platforms and Chicago Fire Academy
    • Report any alteration to student athletes’ behavior that may be cause for concern to coaches and additional Academy staff
    • Support Academy staff in the delivery of any relevant mental performance, culture, and character-building initiatives
  • Adaptable to changing work environment, location, and classroom size
    • Daily attendance tracking
    • Supportive in the communication of changing schedules, times, locations as they happen
    • Aid the flow of student athletes from academic space to performance space in a timely manner


Required Qualifications:

  • Previous educational experience
  • Ability to work independently on projects and work efficiently and effectively in group settings
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Power Point/Slides and basic IT knowledge
  • Must have reliable means of transport to commute throughout Chicagoland
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, in non-traditional settings, including all home games (or other work events) that fall on nights, weekends, and/or holidays
  • Experience working with student athletes
  • Familiarity with school administrative tasks and learning methods
  • Honest communication and organizational skills
  • Cool-tempered and positive attitude
  • Firm but kind personality

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pursuing post-graduate degree in education, youth development, educational psychology, or counseling from accredited college or university

    Compensation:
  • This role offers an hourly rate of $17
  • This role is classified as Part-time, non-exempt
