Position: Manager, Engineering Services

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager, Engineering Services for Canucks Sports & Entertainment plays a pivotal role in collaborating with senior management and a variety of internal and external stakeholders in planning, monitoring and maintaining project construction and maintenance schedules within, Rogers Arena, a 18,600 seat venue that is home to the Vancouver Canucks and Vancouver Warriors. The incumbent also manages the Building Electricians, Carpenters and General Maintenance Workers and the overall day to day operation of the Electrical and Carpentry Departments. This is an onsite role at our office in downtown Vancouver.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Work with client on design of project
- Complete detailed work schedule, ensure assigned jobs are completed in a timely manner
- Obtain quotes and prepare tender documents
- Award contracts and monitor work completion and payment schedules
- Schedule hours of work, vacation time, and work assignments
- Manage budget and order supplies for assigned jobs
- Maintain the telecommunications infrastructure throughout the building, including troubleshooting and repairing damaged systems, installing and supporting telecommunication needs for various building rentals (concerts, major sporting events, etc.)
- Supply drawings for all concert set ups
- Input production rigging formation into the structural roof drawings and ensure the roof structure can support the rigging loads
- Design various building renovations and cabinet/furniture requirements
- Fulfill departmental requests for drawing layouts, banner printing, sign making, and other various projects
- Manage the printing of photos and mounting photos on structural backer for display throughout the building
- Continually update the existing base building computer drawing database
- Act as Building Operations Manager during events
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, complete with schedule information for approval submission
- Liaise with customers regarding the work order system and/or temporary fit out or special event needs
- Monitor and evaluate revenue and expenditures status on an ongoing basis, preparing budget summaries and analyses, as required
YOU HAVE:
- Technologist certification or diploma in a related field
- At least two years of experience with computer drafting
- At least five years of experience with hands-on construction as well as project management within the field
- Experience with the full life cycle of construction project management, managing various projects at once
- Experience with telecommunications layout and installation
- Strong management experience, within a unionized work unit is preferred
- Strong understanding of building construction
- Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety practices associated with the area of facility maintenance and operations
- Excellent computer skills
- Strong attention to detail and thorough in approach to work
- Solid team player attitude with excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiating skills
- Excellent communication and negotiating skills

- Onsite role at our office in downtown Vancouver
YOU MIGHT ALSO HAVE:
- Fourth Class Power Engineering Certificate and Refrigeration Operator Certificate
- Previous experience in a professional sports and entertainment venue
