Job Description:
Summary:
The Mental Performance Coach will support the development and implementation of the New York Mets’ Mental Performance Program based out of Brooklyn, NY and at various affiliate locations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Be part of the strategic development and application of systems to improve mental performance throughout the organization. Accomplished through observation, collaboration, research, and the implementation of new techniques and technology.
Monitor the development of individual mental performance routines and their application to performance.
Educate and present mental performance topics to players, coaches, and staff in group and individual settings.
Collaborate with the Player Development and Performance Department Staff (Strength and Conditioning, Position Coaches, etc.) to create optimal strategies for enhancing player performance and development.
Monthly reports (observations, reflections, recommendations, etc.) to the Mental Performance Director.
Understand scope of competence and collaborate and refer effectively to the Mental Health Department.
Collaborate with the entire Mental Performance Staff to aid and assist in various projects, create presentations, and support players.
Maintain up to date knowledge of theories and practices in the field of Sport Psychology.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree or advanced degree in a related psychology field preferred
Currently have or are working towards AASP CMPC.
Being willing to be work out of Port St. Lucie, FL during Spring Training and based in Brooklyn, NY in-season.
Mental performance coaching experience at an elite level of athletics or with tactical populations preferred.
Ability to travel, work long hours, and be outside in all weather.
Ability to speak Spanish fluently is a plus.
Knowledge of and familiarity with baseball is a plus.

Salary Range: $64,000-$70,000
