Associate, Minor League Sport Science – Rehabilitation

Job Description:

Summary:

The Sports Science Associate – Rehabilitation is responsible for supporting the implementation of sport science initiatives across all minor league affiliates with an emphasis on player rehabilitation and return-to-play processes. This role includes assisting with data collection, monitoring, and analysis to support performance and coaching staff. The associate will work collaboratively with the Sports Science Manager to contribute to a high-quality applied sports science program for the New York Mets minor league system.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with the implementation of systems to optimize player readiness and rehabilitation processes.

  • Support routine athlete monitoring and testing protocols across affiliate teams.

  • Assist in maintaining databases and reporting structures for performance and coaching staff.

  • Provide objective data and basic analysis to inform rehabilitation and training decisions.

  • Oversee and support data collection procedures using available technologies.

  • Collaborate with Analytics and Baseball Systems to address player development opportunities.

  • Participate in and contribute to internal discussions on best practices in applied sports science.

  • Assist with presenting findings from research or internal projects to staff.

  • Maintain a positive and collaborative team presence, supporting organizational goals.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Exercise Science, Physiology, or related degree.

  • CPR/First Aid certification.

  • 1+ years’ experience in a similar role.

  • Experience working with teams/athletes in high-level sport (Professional sports, Division I athletics).

  • Experience with athlete monitoring/testing equipment and procedures (force plates, athlete position systems, dynamometers/load cells, position transducers, etc.)

  • Experience with athlete management systems, or similar databases.

  • Evidence of basic data handling skills (cleaning, analyzing, visualizing, and reporting).

  • Evidence of continued professional development and education (workshops, accreditations, etc.)

  • Excellent communication skills with coaches, athletes, and staff.

  • Excellent ability to provide oral and written updates on the readiness of the team/players.

  • Up to date knowledge of the latest trends in applied sport science and relevant research.

  • A positive, friendly personality with a passion for assisting others in achieving their goals.

  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.

  • Must be able to work unconventional hours.
