COMPANY BACKGROUND
The Houston Dynamo Football Club (HDFC) is a multi-faceted organization dedicated to inspiring and supporting soccer participation and growth in Houston, TX and beyond. The Club’s brands include men's and women's professional teams - the Houston Dynamo (MLS) and Houston Dash (NWSL), a development academy, Houston Dynamo Dash Charities, as well as Shell Energy Stadium and Houston Sports Park. The Club has a rich history, including MLS Cup titles (2006, 2007) and in-season tournament championships for both the Dynamo (2018, 2023) and Dash (2020) and is focused on building toward the next championships, inspiring and uniting the city of Houston through the sport of soccer and community outreach, and creating the most inclusive sporting experience and diverse fan base in the city and state.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
This is not a role with the Houston Dynamo & Dash first team, second team, or Academy
The Houston Dash & Dynamo Youth Programs are looking for part-time Youth Programs Coach to assist in providing their coaching knowledge and experience to our various camps, clinics, and free programming; while helping to develop, educate, and grow the game of soccer in the community. We are seeking someone passionate about helping others and committed to growing soccer from the grassroots level. This is an opportunity to grow with us in a dynamic, collaborative, and fun environment while expressing your real passion for soccer, the Houston community, and Houston Dynamo FC and the Houston Dash.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Coach reports to the Lead Coach
  • The Coach is expected to assist with: set up, field management, customer service, sessions, and players
  • Create a safe, competitive, positive, and inclusive soccer environment that promotes sportsmanship, fair play, and positive attitudes among players.
  • Understand and implement the Houston Dynamo & Dash curriculum and methodology for a variety of ages at a grassroots level and above.
  • Communicate effectively with program participants, facility guests, and other HDFC staff.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner as a representative of HDFC.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school/College playing experience - preferred.
  • USSF Grassroots coaching qualifications - preferred
  • 95% of the work will be done in an outdoor environment.
  • This job requires you to work in multiple parts of Houston to work events.
  • CPR/First Aid certification strongly preferred.
  • Candidates should be 18+
  • Bilingual English/Spanish – preferred.
  • Coach Camps and Clinics within the greater Houston area 2 to 3 times a week or 5 – 20 hours, depending on availability and willingness to work, within the following timeframe:
    • Weekdays 5:00pm and onward
    • Weekends 9:00am and onward
    • Holidays: Spring Break, Summer, Thanksgiving, and Winter Break


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES
Working knowledge of youth soccer and effecting coaching strategies for different ages and levels. Must be reliable, punctual, proactive, detail-oriented, and hardworking.
Must have effective communication skills when interacting with players and parents.
Ability to build positive and energizing working relationships with players and parents.
Ability to identify problems and their root causes, and to develop and recommend effective solutions.
