Position overview:

Houston Dynamo FC is seeking a qualified candidate for the Academy Coordinator position. This person will play a critical role in supporting the daily operations of our professional academy. This individual is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of all logistical and operational functions within the academy. Working closely with the Academy Director, coaches, and support staff, the Academy Coordinator ensures that all matches, events, equipment processes and team travel run smoothly. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for player development in a high-performance sports environment.

Duties & responsibilities:

  • Liaise with parents and players regarding schedules and events, ensuring clear and timely communication
  • Lead equipment and apparel inventory management process, including ordering through adidas, distribution to staff and players, maintenance of equipment, facilitating laundry of apparel, and travel needs
  • Coordinate facility usage and ensure all necessary equipment is available and maintained for academy sessions
  • Support all team travel arrangements, including transportation, accommodations, meals, and itineraries.
  • Organize all documentation for the academy players and staff, including league registrations, ITCs, handbooks, medical records, travel documentation, SafeSport certification
  • Track operational expenses for budget purposes, providing regular reports to the Academy General Manager
  • Maintain adherence to all league, federation, and club policies, including health and safety protocols
  • Conduct regular facility and equipment checks to ensure a safe and secure environment for players and staff
  • Support academy social media efforts and coordination with PR and communications team
  • Coordinate with educational and wellness staff to ensure players receive holistic support


Qualification requirements:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably within sports or youth development
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multitask effectively
  • Familiarity with academy soccer operations in a professional club setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders, including players, coaches, and parents
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, scheduling software, and database management
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel as needed with teams
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) โ€“ preferred

  • Passion for soccer and a commitment to the holistic development of young athletes
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively motivate and communicate with young athletes
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to effectively support multiple athletes and teams
  • Experience in developing young professional and collegiate soccer players
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion
