The International Strategy Manager will run point on work to begin implementing the Lion’s global expansion into various global markets. This position will help pull together work that oversees efforts across the organization to enhance its footprint in international markets, emphasizing brand development, fan growth, and revenue generation. Collaborating closely with senior management and various departments, the International Strategy Manager will devise and execute initiatives that align with the overarching objectives of the NFL’s Global Markets Program. The ideal candidate will possess skills in: strategic planning and project oversight, coupled with an enthusiasm for sports, a love of collaboration and a comprehension and curiosity for worldwide markets.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (including, but not limited to):
The International Strategy Manager's daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing day-to-day operations of the Lions Global Markets program, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and long-term goals.
  • Implementing and continuously improving the overall strategy of the program.
  • Collaborating with Marketing, Media, Partnerships, Analytics, Data Governance, Legal, and other key departments to design, plan, and execute brand development activations, international fan growth, and revenue generation projects.
  • Overseeing and managing all third-party and agency relationships related to international initiatives, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
  • Tracking fan growth and engagement metrics in international markets, using data and analytics to inform strategic decision-making and facilitate monetization opportunities.

GENERAL DUTIES:

In addition to the essential functions, the International Strategy Manager:

  • Manages projects and strategy related to the Lions' international markets strategy, with a focus on brand development, fan growth, and revenue generation.
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive understanding of international markets, trends, and opportunities, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Coordinates with the league office and other NFL teams on international initiatives and best practices, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Helps guide and aid brand development efforts and on-site activations in key markets
  • Supports the development and execution of international partnership agreements, including sponsorship and licensing deals, to drive revenue growth and brand exposure.
  • Conducts market research and analysis to identify potential monetization opportunities among Lions' international fans.
  • Collaborates with legal team to ensure adherence to international laws and regulations.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Will accept other responsibilities and duties required by the supervisor consistent with the objectives and essential functions of this position. Such responsibilities shall be incorporated into the position description if they are ongoing.
  • Will exercise good judgment and have the willingness to make decisions
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree (MBA) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in research, branding, consulting, or strategy.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Experience in Corporate Partnerships or other Business-to-Business related areas preferred.
  • Team-oriented approach, strong relationship-building skills, and professional demeanor.
  • Strength in time management, administrative ability, organization, and customer service.
  • Strong proficiency in PowerPoint, with experience constructing presentations for executives.
  • Advanced Excel skills including vlookups, pivot tables, and data manipulation for providing insight and solution-based recommendations.
  • Willingness to adjust schedule as needed to meet work goals and time constraints, including working nights, weekends, and holidays as directed by the football schedule.
  • May require work at both the Ford Field and the Allen Park Training Facility.
