Job Title: Minor League Physical Therapist
Reports To: Coordinator, Rehab & Physical Therapy
Job Purpose: Assist with the day-to-day programs and routines of players going through physical therapy and a rehabilitation program at the Cincinnati Reds Player Development Complex in Goodyear, Arizona


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration with our Health and Performance and Player Development staff on rehab of players/protocols and their return to play schedules.
  • Assist in the return-to-play process for all assigned rehabbing players, including:
    • Communication to Coordinator, Rehab & Physical Therapy of current status and rehab approach.
    • Collaborative daily program planning with strength & conditioning staff, as well as facilitating mental skills, nutrition, and wellness professionals into the player’s care plan.
    • Proper transition of player care during rehab assignment and progression to affiliate team.
  • Utilize an objective-based approach to injury assessment, treatment, and return-to-play management.
  • Assist in developing injury-specific protocols and educational content for Health and Performance staff.
  • Assist with training room tasks as necessary, including but not limited to medical administration, evaluation, and treatment of acute injuries, and assistance of the Athletic Training staff with daily training room duties.
  • Assist with the implementation and completion of Spring Training and End of Season physicals throughout the organization.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the training room and rehab equipment/modalities.
  • Assist with internship/fellowship program development and implementation.
  • Assist the medical department with duties assigned as needed.
  • Assist with coordinating and monitoring rehab athletes at outside clinics in the off-season.
  • Availability for reasonable Goodyear Complex activities/duties throughout the off-season.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Independent judgment and multitasking ability are required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to work long, flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be trustworthy and comfortable with managing sensitive information.
  • High interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with various departments, seniority levels, and personalities.
  • Knowledge of various computer software applications and communication platforms in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, EMR, and Slack).


Experience, Education, Licensure:

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree, required.
  • Ability to obtain Physical Therapy licensure in the state of Arizona.


Requirements:

  • Spoken and written fluency in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Ability to work in both Goodyear, AZ, and the Dominican Republic.
  • Willing to relocate. The employment location is at the Reds Player Development Complex in Goodyear, AZ.
