Chicago Fire Football Club is a Major League Soccer team that was founded in 1997. The Club returned to Soldier Field as well as opened a new 50,000 square foot business office in the heart of the city. With tremendous growth and expansion, the Club is laying the foundation for an ambitious vision that will transform the Club in the coming years.
Position Overview:
Chicago Fire Football Club is looking to add a social-media-savvy individual to our Digital Content & Social Media team to help create industry-leading social content. This role will report to the Senior Manager of Digital Content and Social Media and will support the overall social media strategy of the organization, including ideation, content creation, publishing, and reporting for organic and branded content. Our overall marketing approach prioritizes driving in-market brand awareness, fan engagement and revenue and this role will be a key driver of our efforts.
The individual will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day content and community management across all social media platforms related to the Chicago Fire, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), and YouTube. They will build a content calendar that aligns with the club’s social media strategy, including matchday content, branded content, and content that showcases our player’s personalities in an effort to grow fandom. They will partner with our creative team (video and graphic design) to ensure they’re producing content to maximize reach and engagement and adhere to brand guidelines.
Given the nature of the role, individuals with experience working in content and social roles at sports teams and with a strong understanding and passion for soccer (both the sport and its role in culture) will be prioritized.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ideate, present, create, and post original and engaging day-to-day social media content across all Chicago Fire social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), and YouTube, in alignment with the brand’s tone and voice
- Interact with fans, followers, MLS teams, and Chicago sports teams in real-time, fostering a sense of community and building relationships with our audience
- Monitor and respond to social media inquiries, comments and messages in a timely and professional manner, escalating issues as needed
- Recognize, relay, and recommend social media trends in sports and popular culture to the social media team
- Stay up-to-date on emerging social media platforms, trends, and best practices, and recommend innovative strategies to reach new audiences and engage existing followers
- Maintain a detailed weekly and monthly social media calendar, accounting for organic and sponsored content to ensure consistent and quality content
- Utilize key learnings from performance metrics, reports and insights to inform future content
- Own our live coverage of home and away games, events, and behind-the-scenes activities to keep fans informed and engaged in real-time
- Work closely with the Senior Manager of Digital Content and Social Media, and the corporate partnership team to ensure we’re adhering to contractual requirements regarding sponsored content
- Execute social media campaigns to promote ticket sales, merchandise, events, and other club initiatives
- Collaborate with marketing, communications, creative, corporate partnerships and other relevant departments to coordinate social media efforts
Required Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of experience managing various social media channels and working with applicable social media management tools
- Experience working with social media analytics tools
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, videography, and short-form video production
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Heightened level of attention to detail
- Commitment to staying informed about industry trends and emerging technologies
- Team player who uses excellent judgment
- Creative thinker with the ability to generate engaging content ideas and storytelling concepts
- Willingness to learn in a fast-paced, performance-driven work environment
- Ability to work non-traditional hours, in non-traditional settings, including all games (or other work events) that fall on nights, weekends, and/or holidays
- A strong understanding of US soccer, both the sport itself but also the culture that surrounds it
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 year of experience or 2 internships working in sports
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a relevant area of study
- Experience with using Meta Business Suite or Tweet Composer
