POSITION SUMMARY:

The Phillies is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to prepare and coordinate various accounting and financial operations functions at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This position will be responsible for a wide variety of finance and accounting duties including reconciliations, creating and posting entries to the general ledger, quarterly account analysis, budget/forecasting, and completing reports. The Senior Accountant will work closely with other team members and leadership, with a strong focus on revenue, ticketing, and other key business operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, eager to learn, self-motivated, and devoted to meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for performing a variety of general accounting duties including revenue accounting, ticket reporting and collaboration with Major League Baseball. Includes preparing and posting journal entries into the general ledger and preparation and review of support for annual audits.
  • Prepare general ledger account analysis and quarterly account reconciliations.
  • Use ProVenue to track and recognize revenue and expenses from games and events, ensuring compliance with appropriate revenue recognition standards.
  • Prepare journal entries and summary reports related to reports and schedules from Major League Baseball and other entities as needed.
  • Calculate and remit monthly tax filings.
  • Create various wires in the Company’s cash management platform.
  • Collaborate with internal and external business partners to meet accounting close and financial reporting deadlines.
  • Maintain accounting records for all work completed in an orderly functional manner.
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy as it relates to revenue reporting.
  • Understand the inner workings and policies of the company.
  • Perform special projects, when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and CPA.
  • Minimum of 4 to 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) specifically regarding revenue recognition.
  • Skilled in utilizing accounting tools and software to reconcile revenue, track deferred revenue, and monitor revenue accruals.
  • Strong communication skills; highly organized, accurate and detail oriented.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to utilize strong analytical, decision-making, and strategic planning skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability and willingness to work non-standard hours (including nights, weekends, and holidays)
  • Ability to thrive and work collaboratively in a team environment while often working independently.
  • Comfortable within a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Additional Experience Preferences/Matters of Candidate Distinction:

  • Sage Intacct experience preferred but not required.
  • ProVenue experience preferred but not required.
