OEG Sports & Entertainment is looking for a student to join the Edmonton Oil Kings for the summer. This individual will work closely with our General Manager and Director, Business Operations to support hockey analytics, draft preparation, and business operations. They will also work on tasks to support the WHL draft administration, community activations, website updates, and promotional planning.
Core Responsibilities and Duties:
Hockey Operations (May 1 – June 12)
- Provide Systems Research as Directed by Oil Kings General Manager or Head Coach (Analytics Based, Faceoff’s, Entries, Scoring Chances, Recruitment, etc.)
- Create/Manage off-season communication tracker
- Assist with planning and execution of Oil Kings Prospect Development Camp
- Present on topic of choice at Oil Kings Prospect Development Camp
- Assist with WHL US Prospects and WHL Prospects Draft Administration
- Work with Manager, Player Development on prospect information database and online resources
- Assist Hockey Operations Department with additional off-season plans and tasks as directed
Business Operations (June 14 – July 28)
- Assist the Coordinator, Community Relations, Team Services & social media with in-community activations – logistic and content support
- Assist with the dissection of the Edmonton Oil Kings website to verify all content is accurate and relevant and that all links work and are active
- Assist with the organization of the Edmonton Oil Kings photo archive – identifying key images from the ’22-’23 season for marketing and promotional needs
- Assist in the recap of all paid media spends for the ’22-’23 season – looking to identify trends and opportunities to make the ’23-’24 media spend more focused and impactful with a higher rate of return on investment
- Assist with promotional research to generate themes, ideas and trends to be incorporated into the ’23-’24 Edmonton Oil Kings promotional calendar
Who you are:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree or diploma program in a related field; or recently graduated within the last 12 months
- Actively involved in your university or community’s athletics program.
- Possess an advanced understanding of hockey and a strong knowledge of the game.
- A self-starter with excellent time management skills.
- Flexible and available to work on weekdays and weekends.
- Skilled in verbal, written, and organizational communication.
- Experience in Sports and Entertainment is considered an asset.
