Position Summary

The Broadcast Graphics Director will have oversight of all graphics development and integration of NBA produced live and recorded content. This includes maintaining and continuing vendor relationships, graphics creation rollout and support, the management and implementation of broadcast graphics operations standards, workflow efficiencies, and integration of new technologies in support of new and existing productions. In this role, the Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the virtual signage ecosystem across the entire delivery system, and the processes created for its delivery. The candidate will work to ensure that all virtual signage is delivered with the highest degree of precision and integrity. In addition to the virtual signage oversight, the candidate will be responsible for assisting in all areas of the graphics department, while also providing coverage as necessary, based on the needs of the business.

Success in this role requires a strong attention to detail, as well as the ability to interact with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. The ideal candidate will be highly organized to ensure that departmental procedures and workflows operate as efficiently as possible. This person must also fully understand signal flow and escalation & notification processes. This position requires being available beyond the normal business hours, in order to be able to make real-time decisions, when necessary, and often at a moments notice. Candidate must have a proactive approach and be one who is also able to handle changes as they occur, and address as necessary. This position also requires the ability to be a forward thinker, while continuing to oversee the duties of improving all workflow efficiencies. Strong leadership qualities are required. A successful candidate in this role should be able to confidently and effectively work to prioritize all business needs. The Director will be responsible for a wide range of decision making, and will have continuous interaction with Executive Management.

This role requires an on-site presence for at least four days per week, as well as the flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on business needs. Occasional travel is also required.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day oversight of the entire graphics ecosystem
  • Management of all on-air graphics systems and staff for live and recorded content
  • Oversight of all live game graphics productions
  • Management of relationships and integration with data platforms
  • Oversight of entire virtual signage operations
  • Manage relationships with virtual signage vendors to ensure that all contractual obligations are met, and that the Service Level Agreement (SLA) is adhered to
  • Collaborate with Ad Sales and Creative Services teams to manage all necessary workflows
  • Provide strategic recommendations to improve workflows and rollout future roadmap items from virtual signage MSA, Work Orders and Service Level Agreement
  • Remain up to date on industry trends and new uses for a wide range of graphics technology
  • Work constructively and respectfully with fellow team members to achieve a common goal, while always upholding the values of the NBA
  • Mentor team members and help to create an environment that encourages personal and departmental growth
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaborating with others – both with various internal teams and external partners
  • Must possess the ability to be a problem solver, often under pressure, while meeting all necessary deadlines

Required Skills / Knowledge:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of on-air graphics systems and operations
  • Working experience with virtual signage at a Network, RSN or Vendor
  • Knowledgeable about all aspects of virtual signage workflow, from logo creation though on-air insertion
  • Must have knowledge of broadcasting standards, workflows, and technologies responsible for virtual signage and broadcast graphics production
  • Knowledge of a wide range of broadcast graphics software including Ross XPression, Vizrt and Chyron
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft operating systems
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams across a variety of work groups
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and abilities
  • Must be self-motivated, organized, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong interest in current industry technologies and developments, in an ever-changing environment

Experience Needed:

  • 8+ years working experience with broadcast graphics management at a Network, RSN, or equivalent Vendor

Educational Background Required:

  • 4-year undergraduate degree in Communications or design related field
  • In lieu of a college degree, significant field experience may be considered

Salary Range: [[$150,000-$175,000]]
