Position Summary
The DTC Content Manager, Stats will leverage the NBA App and all DTC consumer experiences to showcase the NBA’s most recent advancements in tracking data and advanced stats to create compelling NBA content series and franchises for all NBA fans, from casual to avid. This role will require working with cross-departmental groups internally and third-party vendors in the development and distribution of content that will drive user acquisition and engagement goals of NBA digital products (DTC).
Major Responsibilities

Develop stats-centric content franchises for the NBA App, NBA.com, aligning with internal and Warner Media Discovery Sports personnel on the content development process, distribution, and promotion.
- Deliver content that serves as a strategic combination of utility and creativity, aligned to data storytelling, to fundamentally redefine the standard for how professional sports are analyzed
- Short- and long-term ideation around the most relevant stats-centric storylines around the NBA for all platforms
- Have a strategic voice when it comes to daily & tentpole content– understanding where tracking data and advanced stats can be leveraged to deliver a best-in-class fan experience.
- Collaborate with Content Creation personnel on what is needed to fuel publishing for the mobile app, website, connected devices, and newsletter to ensure delivery of best-in-class content.
- Collaborate with internal NBA Stats team to drive stats creative vision
- Work with existing, and identify new, third-party content vendors that can help deliver a valuable statistical storytelling product to NBA fans.
- Maintain a dashboard on performance metrics for stats-centric content series & franchises and optimize programming plans against key insights.
- Execute priorities for content development with a focus on seeing the process through from pitch to publish.
- Assist in the marketing plans for tentpole content franchises.
Required Skills/Knowledge
- Deeply knowledgeable and passionate about all aspects of basketball, including but not limited to stats, analytics, rules of the game, and key cultural touchpoints. You have a desire to dive deeper than a box score to examine team, player, and league storylines and make connections with data to unearth compelling storylines.
- Passionate about analyzing and reviewing data, and conceiving ways to translate complex data in a digestible format to a broader audience of basketball fans of all knowledge levels.
- Strong project management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to take initiative in a challenging, fast-paced environment of multiple priorities.
- Expert in how to best develop stats-centric content that will be relevant for a global audience around the players, teams, and game itself to showcase across digital and social channels.
- Must be able to cultivate effective partnerships with external companies, representing the NBA in a manner that benefits the organization, working to represent the NBA’s interests, but in a way that acknowledges partners’ goals as well.
- Knowledgeable and curious about the social, digital, linear, and direct-to-consumer landscape.
- Familiarity with publishing operations in a Content Management System
- Knowledge and understanding of digital and social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and Snapchat.
- Strong writing and communication skills, as well as the ability to execute editorial judgment
- Ability and willingness to work on deadline and handle multiple tasks at once with a precise and detail-oriented approach
- Ability and willingness to work both independently and as part of a team
- This position will require some travel, as well as night & weekend work
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a global, matrix organization
- Familiarity with Airtable and Google Suite
- Willingness and ability to engage with stakeholders (including senior executives), communicate insights and problem-solving in a flexible, professional manner
- Exceptional verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Experience Needed
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a digital/social content role
- You have a proven track record of creativity in content creation
- You have developed and planned content for digital or social platforms
- You understand digital analytics & trends to know the best types of content to use on respective platforms
- You have experience setting and meeting deadlines
- Track record for successfully driving digital audience/customer/fan growth and revenue through content across platforms for a direct-to-consumer brand. Subscription experience is strongly preferred
- Prior expertise working in sports content required
Educational Background Required
- Bachelor’s degree or production qualification required; preferably in content production or digital marketing or a related discipline
Salary Range: $77,500 - $95,000
