WORK OPTION: 4 days/week in the NY office

The position will play a crucial role in the management of the portfolio of NBA Equity, the NBA’s corporate venture capital division. This person will be responsible for monitoring portfolio companies' progress and actively working with portfolio companies to help scale their business. In addition to liaising the portfolio company with NBA internal commercial teams to drive additional growth from the NBA’s side, this position will work closely with outside investors and potential clients to develop new businesses and help raise future fundraise.
Major Responsibilities:
Portfolio Support
Work closely with portfolio companies to identify critical operating challenges and find ways to leverage NBA Equity’s network and capabilities to address those matters.
Actively engage internal subject matter experts, commercial partners, and NBA teams to provide impactful insights and growth opportunities.
Help business development opportunities outside the NBA, including finding new clients and synergy opportunities with other organizations.
Portfolio Management
Monitor and analyze existing portfolio companies, tracking key performance indicators and financial metrics, while comparing to market standards and competition.
Develop and maintain our company database to track key industry metrics and serve as an internal benchmarking tool.
Assist in preparing progress reports and presentations to the Investment Committee and Board of Governors, including return analysis.
Fundraising / Exit
Maintain a high understanding of potential exit opportunities and consider pathways to execution.
Investment Analysis
Conduct comprehensive due diligence on prospective investments, including financial analysis, market research, competitive landscape assessment, and risk evaluation.
Collaborate with subject matter experts internally to assess strategic fit and upside potential within the organization.
Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes:
Strong analytical ability and proficiency in financial modeling, business valuation, and data analysis
Knowledge and passion for startup ecosystems, industry trends, and emerging technologies.
Team player who can work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment internally and network externally.
Creative & innovative thinker with an analytical & entrepreneurial mindset with a strong “can do” attitude.
Ability to proactively catch what our portfolio companies need and link it to the right internal or external partners.
Required Education/Professional Experience:
Minimum 5 – 7 years of relevant experience.
Consulting or investment banking experience, with startup experience a major plus.
Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field.
Advanced degrees such as MBA preferred.
Salary Range: $150,000 - $170,000
