Position:

The Director of Marketing is part of the Marketing & Communications Department for Minnesota United FC (MNUFC), a sports business located in the Twins Cities area of Minnesota and a member of Major League Soccer (MLS), the top tier soccer league in North America.

Job Description:

We’re looking for a creative, strategic, and results-driven Director of Marketing to take the lead on our brand, fan engagement, and marketing vision. This role is all about connecting our club with the community, amplifying our brand, and building campaigns that fire up fans and showcase what MNUFC is all about. Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies to enhance team visibility and engagement across all platforms.
  • Brand Management: Oversee the branding and messaging of the team, ensuring consistency and alignment with the team's values and vision.
  • Fan Engagement: Create innovative campaigns and programs to engage existing fans and attract new audiences, working in tandem with game-day, digital, production and community teams.
  • Advertising: Oversee relationships with paid media agency and collaborate on the annual paid media strategy that meets yearly KPIs.
  • Budget: Manage the marketing budget effectively, ensuring optimal allocation of resources for maximum impact.
  • Partnership Development: Collaborate with the corporate partnership team to create mutually beneficial brand awareness and activations that drive revenue.
  • Team Leadership: Guide your direct report while fostering a collaborative, creative culture across the marketing team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Sports Management, or related field
  • 6-8 years of experience in campaign development, paid media strategy and measurement and marketing, with a focus on sports or entertainment industries
  • 3+ years of experience leading a marketing team
  • Experience working with or for media agencies
  • In-depth knowledge of paid and owned marketing channels
  • Understanding of audience segmentation and developing customer profiles and insights
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
