Position:

The Player Care Coordinator is part of the Sporting Operations Department for Minnesota United FC (MNUFC), a sports business located in the Twins Cities area of Minnesota and a member of Major League Soccer (MLS), the top tier soccer league in North America.


Job Description:

The Player Care Coordinator will provide support to first team players and their families with transition into the Twin Cities and establishing their new lives within the community. This individual will help facilitate all day-to-day administration as it relates to player care, player onboarding and family care. This role is vital to the transition of the player as it provides them full support to concentrate solely on their profession.

This is a full-time role based in Blaine, MN. Reporting to the Head of Player Care & Operations, the main duties of the Player Care Coordinator will be as follows:


Essential Duties:

  • Execute all administrative functions involving player relocation and establishment with the Club (1st Team and Reserve Team)
    • Expansion of player relocation network and through collaboration with internal departments, current partners and external vendors
      • Develop and maintain high quality materials relating to the community and the Club to be used as materials in attracting and retaining players such as regional amenities, educational elements, housing, etc.
      • Oversight of Player Relocation plan for each player and distribution of finalized “relocation plan” to key stakeholders
      • Professionalization of “player profiles” containing all key administrative information for all players and their families
        • Ensure prompt and continuing attention to the needs of the families and partners of players
        • Ensure complete data and record management for player files
  • Clearly explain and define MNUFC Relocation Process to incoming players and establish positive first impression of the Club
  • Serve as the provider for or conduit to resources needed by players including relocation planning and realization, temporary and long-term housing, moving, shipping and transportation
    • Securing flights, transportation, etc.
    • Securing hotel rooms
    • Assisting in lifestyle adjustments
    • Housing searches
    • Opening bank accounts
    • Obtaining social security cards
    • Cell phones, state ID, etc.
    • Help newly acquired players and their families move into market
  • Support released and traded players move out of market at completion of season
    • When necessary, securing flights, transportation, etc.
    • Logistical support for closing out life in market including but not limited to transition of housing, moving of household goods and ending of car leases and shipping
  • Assist in day-to-day administration of player needs; including:
    • Collecting and filing reimbursement documentation for players
    • Tracking and keeping a database of relocation spend, including tracking hotel use
  • Organization of player and family databases and information
    • Enter and monitor player files through “Workday” (MLS Asset Management System)
    • Creation of player files to monitor information that is pertinent to the club
    • Oversee payroll, benefits, I9, W4 and MLS scheduled information with interfaces to the League and the appropriate MNUFC departments
  • Build out of the player care network and continued communication with current network
    • Schools, housing, language support, vehicles
    • Connect with, work alongside Corporate Partners for network support and resources that would be valuable to player/player families
  • Oversee family room and match day experience for player families
  • Create programming opportunities for players and their families to better integrate into the community
  • Other duties as directed by the Sporting Department
  • Reinforce club culture, roles and expectations


Physical Requirements:

  • Able to stand for extended time
  • Able to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends and holiday as deemed necessary

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management/Business, Social Work, or Hospitality preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, particularly tasks that are time sensitive
  • Familiarity with the professional soccer landscape
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with others
  • Candidates who are bilingual will take priority (English/Spanish a plus)
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office; PowerPoint, Word, Excel
  • Ability to keep a strong and positive attitude that reflects the spirit of the club
    • This role is outward facing, and it is imperative the individual projects positive goodwill
  • This role requires a high level of trust and managing delicate and sensitive information
  • Vehicle/other reliable transport


Please Note – this position will require some travel, night and weekend/holiday work. You will be expected to work all home games.
