We seek a dedicated and skilled Performance Lab Coordinator to manage and optimize our performance lab operations, ensuring that our players and staff can access the best tools and resources.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As the Performance Lab Coordinator, you will provide critical support to the Performance Lab Coordinator by assisting with the setup and management of lab equipment, conducting performance assessments, and helping with data analysis. Your role will ensure that the lab operates smoothly and effectively, contributing to our overall goal of optimizing player performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Equipment Setup and Maintenance: Assist with the setup, calibration, and maintenance of performance lab equipment, including motion capture systems, force plates, and other technology. Ensure all equipment is in good working condition and address any issues promptly.
  • Data Collection: Support performance data collection during assessments, practices, and games. Ensure accurate and consistent data capture and assist in preparing assessment sessions.
  • Data Analysis: Assist in analyzing performance data, including strength, power, speed, and biomechanics. Supported in preparing reports and visualizations to communicate findings to coaches and players.
  • Lab Organization: Maintain an organized and clean lab environment. Ensure all tools and equipment are properly stored, and the lab is prepared for each session.
  • Player Support: Assist players during lab assessments and sessions. Help explain procedures and ensure a positive and productive experience for all participants.
  • Documentation: Assist with documenting lab activities, including data logs, equipment maintenance records, and assessment results. Ensure accurate and up-to-date records are maintained.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Performance Lab Coordinator, sports scientists, strength and conditioning coaches, and other staff to support lab operations and player development programs.
  • Training and Learning: Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated on the latest technologies and techniques in sports performance and lab management.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a sports performance or sports science setting is preferred. Experience with lab equipment or data analysis is a plus.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Basic understanding of performance assessment tools and technologies (e.g., motion capture, force plates).
    • Proficiency with data analysis software (e.g., Excel, R, MATLAB) and learning new software as needed.
    • Experience with motion-capture technologies, including markerless systems
    • Proficiency in statistical programming for signal processing, data analysis, and modeling (R, Python, SQL, etc.) is preferred.
    • Experience working in the sports industry is preferred
  • Soft Skills:

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with players and staff.
    • Detail-oriented, strong organizational skills, and multi-tasking abilities.
    • Ability to develop and maintain successful working relationships with members of the Club’s on-field staff and players.

WORKING CONDITIONS/WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Work Environment: The position is primarily office-based and located in Salt River Fields, but it regularly visits Minor League facilities and stadiums. Based on team needs and performance, remote work options may be available.
  • Work Hours: Standard full-time hours with the possibility of extended hours during game days, practices, and special events. Must be able to work holidays, weekends, & nights when players and coaches are occupying the Salt River Fields complex
  • Travel: Some travel to Minor League affiliates and other facilities may be required to support video and technology needs.
  • Team Dynamics: Collaborative environment involving regular interactions with Minor League coaching staff, players, and technology vendors.
  • Physical Job Requirements:
    • Sitting/Desk Work: Seventy percent of the work involves sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Prolonged periods of sitting and working with video and technology systems are typical.
    • Typing and Hand Dexterity: Frequent typing and use of a mouse or other input devices are necessary. Good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills are essential.
    • Visual Acuity: This position requires the ability to review and interpret video footage and technical data, which necessitates good visual acuity and the ability to work with screens for extended periods.
    • Occasional Physical Activity: Frequent light physical activity, such as setting up or transporting video equipment, may be required. This typically does not exceed moderate physical effort.
    • Communication: Regular communication via email, video calls, and in-person meetings is essential. Clear verbal and written communication skills are also essential.
    • Stress Management: Ability to manage tight deadlines and multiple priorities while maintaining focus and accuracy. Capability to handle pressure during critical game or practice analysis periods.
    • These conditions ensure that the work environment supports productivity while balancing the role's physical demands.

SALARY RANGE:

  • Compensation is $65,000 - $70,000/year. This is a regular status, exempt, full-time position.
  • As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, job-related skills, and any other factors the Colorado Rockies consider relevant to the hiring decision for this position.
