Chicago Fire Football Club is a Major League Soccer team that was founded in 1997. The Club returned to Soldier Field as well as opened a new 50,000 square foot business office in the heart of the city. With tremendous growth and expansion, the Club is laying the foundation for an ambitious vision that will transform the Club in the coming years.

Position Overview:

Chicago Fire Football Club is seeking a Facilities Manager for the Fire Pitch, the Club’s premier indoor/outdoor community soccer facility. Located on the north side of Chicago, the Fire Pitch welcomes 300,000+ visitors each year providing year-round playing opportunities for youth and adult players of all skill levels. The Facilities Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operational success of the Fire Pitch. Successful candidates will place an emphasis on maintaining a first-class soccer facility delivering a clean, safe, family friendly environment while delivering excellent customer service inspiring our guests to become life-long fans of the Chicago Fire Football Club.

Job Responsibilities:

  • With support of the Facility Director execute operational and maintenance plans for all indoor and external spaces, including but not limited to office space, FP Marketplace, Heineken Pub97, playing fields, parking lots, etc.
  • With support of the Facility Director, manage all aspects of the semi-annual dome conversion, transitioning from outdoor-to-indoor play in November, and from indoor-to-outdoor play in April
  • Manage relationships with operational and maintenance vendors inclusive of janitorial, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, snow removal, landscaping, supplies, turf, utilities, and others as assigned
  • Oversee the general maintenance plan for all facility equipment, ensuring equipment is kept in good working order and cleanliness/safety standards are met daily
  • With support of Facility Director, negotiate terms/scope for all operational work
  • Ensure closets, cabinets, shed, off-site storage, and dumpster enclosure are kept clean and organized
  • Maintain inventory list of all equipment/supplies
  • Manage supply needs for the facility, replenishing/reordering stock as required
  • Continuously review current building needs and make recommendations to Facility Director
  • With support of Facility Director, lead retail operations of Fire Pitch Marketplace. Maintain food, beverage, and soccer equipment inventory, manage POS system, and oversee cash control measures
  • Lead snow removal process around seasonal dome, working with Facility Director and external snow removal team to ensure snow removal standards are me
  • Oversee all aspects of field maintenance, ensuring grooming, line painting, and turf repair needs are met. Coordinate any major repair work with turf vendor
  • Support the Manager of Events and Programming with event execution, developing operational plans to convert sales commitments into memorable experiences
  • Maintain facility calendar
  • Fulfill weekly Manager on Duty responsibilities ensuring the facility runs in a smooth, professional, and safe manner during programming hours. MOD responsibilities require an ability to engage and interact with visitors throughout the facility
  • Serve as Club ambassador, delivering passion for soccer and the Chicago Fire Football Club on a daily basis
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience managing operations (or similar responsibilities)
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and spend long hours on your feet
  • Must have driver’s license. Access to vehicle strongly preferred
  • Excellent written, verbal, and computer skills (MS Office Suite, Outlook)
  • Proactive self-starter, entrepreneurial in spirit, unafraid to tackle new project
  • Demonstrated proficiency of general maintenance skills and system operations such as carpentry, painting, electrical, HVAC, etc
  • Ability to operate machinery such as small hand and power tools
  • Strong attention to detail and project management skills are a must
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment (patience under pressure)
  • Proven ability to brainstorm concepts and deliver results within a team setting
  • Demonstrated history of creative thinking, change implementation, and problem solving
  • Strong interpersonal, people management, and relationship-building skills
  • Basic understanding of financial principles – budget tracking, cost control, and cash management
  • Desire to create an inclusive and cooperative work environment
  • No job is too big or too small – unafraid to get hands dirty, able to wear multiple hats and work across the organization
  • Take great pride in providing first-class soccer fields
  • Passion for the Chicago Fire Football Club, MLS, and the sport of soccer

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience working within a sports facility and/or soccer
  • Prior experience with artificial turf fields a plus
  • Current Forklift License, or willing to obtain within 6 months of employment
  • Bilingual
