The Top Shelf:

The Digital Engagement Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping the Chicago Blackhawks online presence and fostering meaningful connections with fans across various digital platforms. This position will lead a dynamic team in developing and executing innovative social media strategies, optimizing mobile app experiences, and developing website pages that are strategically crafted to enhance user experience and achieve business objectives. Through strategic vision and creative expertise, the Digital Engagement Manager will drive engagement, cultivate brand loyalty, and elevate the digital experience for fans year-round.

Centralized planning and support for all digital engagement initiatives across the Chicago Blackhawks brand portfolio, including but not limited to minor league affiliates, Amateur Hockey, and retail is also expected in this role.

How You’ll Contribute:

Planning and Execution

  • Develop and implement comprehensive content strategies tailored to each digital platform, ensuring alignment with overall brand objectives and audience preferences.
  • Oversee the creation and curation of engaging social media content including written copy and multimedia assets.
  • Implement strategies to encourage user-generated content, foster active engagement and interaction with fans across all social media platforms.
  • Lead the development of intuitive and engaging user journeys across the Chicago Blackhawks website that effectively communicates brand messaging, season coverage, and drives desired actions for revenue initiatives. Ensure all content is compelling, informative, and aligned with SEO best practices to increase web traffic.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance the user experience and functionality of the mobile app. Drive initiatives to improve app engagement, retention, and conversion rates through intuitive design, personalized content, and innovative features.
  • Understand evolving strategies and best practices within the social media industry to inform creative approach and messaging.
  • Develop robust content ecosystem to deliver against omnichannel distribution strategies.

Performance and Measurement

  • Collaborate with Business, Strategy, and Analytics team to monitor trends, track meta-data, and analyze digital content performance across various platforms.
  • Ability to develop actionable insights from campaign recaps to inform future strategic plans.

Leadership

  • Build and foster a team of high-performing digital coordinators across social, website, and mobile app marketing channels.
  • Hire and provide leadership of full-time staff, including ongoing coaching, professional development, and timely performance feedback.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages creativity and continuous learning as platforms change and new technologies emerge.
  • Ability to interface with external agencies, creative partners, and NHL league office as needed.

Player Stats and Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media or a related field. Sports experience a plus.
  • 2+ years leading and developing a team, experience with driving positive cultural change in growth situations a plus.
  • Deep understanding of social media platforms, mobile app development, and editorial content management systems.
  • Experience with Deltatre Forge, YinzCam, and Adobe Suite preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage, and complete multiple projects and activities with simultaneous deadlines.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic a must, must have a “team-first” mentality with an eagerness to learn.
  • Should be extremely organized and detail oriented, with a focus on quality and consistency.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for driving results.
  • Ability to address, adapt to, and overcome challenges in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

The Chicago Blackhawks started their journey as one of the NHL’s “Original Six” professional ice hockey teams in 1926. Members of the Central Division in the NHL’s Western Conference and six-time Stanley Cup Champions (1934, 1938, 1961, 2010, 2013, 2015), the team calls the United Center home.
