THE POSITION

The Junior Accountant is a development role and is responsible for the accurate and complete processing of sales, cost of sales and expense transactions for assigned departments and is integral to our month and year-end close processes within the accounting and transaction team of the Finance department.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

The Junior Accountant is responsible for the following:

Leadership

  • Create and foster effective working relationships with finance team members, business partners and external stakeholders;
  • Contribute to maintaining a cohesive, engaged and positive team.

Accounting

  • Prepare revenue recognition journal entries for assigned departments;
  • Reconcile month end inventory balances to source systems;
  • Prepare and ensure accuracy of account reconciliations for areas of responsibility on a monthly basis;
  • Consistently meet month and year-end close deadlines;
  • Liaise with business partners on a regular basis, as required, to obtain information to prepare entries and/or reconcile accounts;
  • Support colleagues on the accounting and transactions team in preparing journal entries and account reconciliations as required;
  • Support the assigned department’s financial analyst, as required, in conjunction with month-end close and budget process;
  • Support interim and year-end financial audits for areas of responsibility.

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to ongoing standardization, simplification and documentation of key finance processes for area(s) of responsibility leveraging appropriate best practices;
  • Support finance and/or organizational process improvement and/or automation initiatives for areas of responsibility.

Other

  • Active participation in the Safety Program and follow all safety rules;
  • All other duties as assigned.

THE INDIVIDUAL

The ideal candidate will have the following background:

  • Hands-on experience with Great Plains Dynamics.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
  • Experience working with contractual agreements.
  • Comfortable using and extracting data from source business operating systems (e.g., Square for Food & Beverage, Kore for Marketing and Sponsorship agreements).
  • Experience administering pre-paid expenses and capital assets.
  • Experience with Solver Bi360 advantageous.
