THE POSITION

As an Assistant Manager you will be responsible for a variety of daily tasks such as financial management, training and leadership, employee retention, ensuring satisfaction of food quality, and departmental operations. The successful candidate must be a self-starter who is passionate about delivering an exceptional guest experience.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Work with the Concessions Manager to prepare a menu analysis for Concessions locations, reviewing the current menu selections and proposing changes for the upcoming NHL season.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff and supervisors on the floor during events.
  • Work with Concession manager in creating an on-the-job training program that addresses the needs of all concessions staff.
  • Monitor staff levels and adjusting labor requirements, while ensuring customer service and business needs are met daily.
  • Communicate and enforce all company policies.
  • Meet compliance with all regulatory requirements inclusive, but limited to Health and Sanitation Codes, Worker’s Compensation Board standards and AGLC guidelines.
  • Provide a safe working environment for both guests and staff through regular maintenance of all concession stands and services, ensuring all equipment is in good working order.
  • Audit and authorize bi-weekly payroll for the Concessions group.
  • Communicate and resolve patron concerns and/or questions.
  • Maximize contribution margins through marketing strategic business planning, adequate staffing level analysis and identifying anomalies.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with other departments to ensure effective and exceptional service delivery front and back of house.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and develop professional relationships.
  • Ability to communicate, motivate and lead effectively.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

THE INDIVIDUAL

The ideal candidate will have the following background:

  • 3+ years of progressive food & beverage supervisory experience.
  • A post-secondary education focused on Hospitality Management or Business Management, or a combination of education and experience would be an asset.
  • Able to remain mobile and alert for extended periods of time.
  • Passion for guest services.
  • Trained in W.H.M.I.S., Pro-Serve, ServSafe, NFSTP or equivalent.
  • Must possess Valid Alberta Basic Food Safety Certification.
  • Proven people, time management and strong communication skills.
  • A strong motivator, mentor, and leader, who has the ability to form strong rapport with direct and indirect reports across a multifunctional organization.
  • Possess a strong sense of accountability and a natural talent for organizing and prioritizing responsibilities.
  • Must be able to take direction and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Please note that this position is based on the event schedule in a fast-paced environment, with emphasis on evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays. Shift lengths vary and require flexible working times.
