Overview:
The Coordinator, Youth Hockey Development is pivotal in growing the game of hockey by developing and executing a range of hockey programs on and off the ice. The ideal candidate will play a key role in expanding the St. Louis Blues presence in multiple youth and community hockey initiatives, ensuring exceptional program delivery, while maintaining strong partnerships with stakeholders. This position plays a vital role in implementing various programs aimed at developing a love for the game of hockey and the St. Louis Blues, while improving the experience of hockey for all players, parents, coaches, and facilities involved.

Job Duties:

  • Contribute to the development of a strategic plan for all Blues Youth Hockey programs, initiatives, and events with the purpose of engaging current stakeholders and reaching new fans to build the Blues brand in the community.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of Blues Youth Hockey Development Programs, including but not limited to, Little Blues Learn to Play, North City Blues, Youth Hockey Camps, and other applicable programs.
  • Ensure details on Youth Hockey programs are clearly communicated with all parents, coaches, and stakeholders.
  • Manage registration processes for Blues Youth Hockey programs and track retention for all program participants, while developing new ideas and initiatives to retain participants to grow existing programs.
  • Manage recruitment and hiring process for all Youth Hockey Coaches, ensuring background checks and coaches certification requirements are met.
  • Coordinate all Little Blues related events including practices, fittings, orientations, graduations, as well as additional in-game programming as applicable.
  • Manage ordering process for all equipment and promotional needs for Youth Hockey programs.
  • Schedule ice and coaches for all Blues Youth Hockey programs.
  • Assist lead on-ice instructor on developing practice lesson plans.
  • Ensure all elements of Blues Youth Hockey sponsorship contract are executed.
  • Create and maintain professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work alongside Sr. Coordinator, Community Hockey and Fan Development to build youth hockey calendar and provide storytelling opportunities for social media.
  • Lead execution of in-game portion of Youth Hockey Intermission Experiences (i.e. intermission scrimmages, relay races, etc).
  • Reach revenue and participation goals set forth by Manager, Youth Hockey and Fan Development Strategy for revenue generating programs.


Requirements and Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • High level of hockey knowledge required, playing experience preferred
  • Ability to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in mentoring and supporting less experienced coaches, helping them develop their skills and confidence
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
