Lead on Ice Instructor- St. Louis Blues Youth Hockey Coach

The Blues Youth Hockey Lead on Ice Instructor is a part-time staff position that will be responsible for leading the on-ice execution of Little Blues and/or the Girls Development Program, the St. Louis Blues Learn to Play Programs. You will also have the opportunity to work as a supporting coach in other Blues Youth Hockey programs, including, North City Blues, Try Hockey for Free, and more.

As the Lead on Ice Instructor, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Leading a practice of 60+ kids
  • Teaching children the fundamentals of the game of hockey
  • Set up and clean-up of practices
  • Maintain consistent communication with the St. Louis Blues Youth and Community Hockey Coordinators
  • Assist St. Louis Blues Youth and Community Hockey Coordinators with practice plans
  • Leading pre-practice meetings with the rest of the coaching staff, going through the practice plan, assignments, and expectations
  • Prioritizing availability for all six weeks of each Learn to Play session. Practices will be once a week, with 2-3 weeks off between each session


Requirements:

  • Qualified candidates must have knowledge of the game of hockey
  • Must be able to teach, encourage, and control children ranging from 4 to 17 years old
  • Candidates must be high-energy, positive, team players
  • Must have USA Level 1 Coaching or able to attain it before the start of on ice sessions
  • Must pass a background check and have valid identification
  • All Blues Youth Hockey Coaches are required to lift (25) pounds and perform some manual labor
  • Must have daytime and weekend availability

Compensation:

  • $40/hour
