The Role of Rehab Strength & Conditioning Coach

We require an experienced strength & conditioning coach to play a key role in the return to play process of 1st Team players. The successful applicant will work closely with performance and medical staff to develop and implement world leading injury rehabilitation systems. The role will also involve collaboration in creating processes and delivery of individual 1st Team strength & conditioning processes.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience delivering strength & conditioning services to elite field-based athletes. A deep understanding of the injury rehabilitation process, as well as the ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team is essential. Previous experience utilising various testing and monitoring technology such as VALD and STATSports is highly desirable.

This person must possess elite level planning and communication skills. They will be a team player who is committed to both self and departmental professional growth. Lateral thinking, creativity and ability to challenge

Main Accountabilities

  • Assist in the design, development and evolution of rehab systems
  • Contribute to case-by-case rehab planning and review processes
  • Assist/oversee the design and implementation of strength-based rehab content
  • Oversee the design and implementation of off-feet conditioning based rehab content
  • Assist physical testing, profiling and feedback processes
  • Design, assist and facilitate strength & conditioning sessions for selected groups of main squad athletes
  • Assist/oversee recovery sessions for both injured and main squad athletes
  • Assist in the physical preparation of athletes prior to training
  • To ensure that any concerns you observe, or are raised with you in your role, are shared with the Safeguarding Team through appropriate channels

Person Specification - Essential Personal Characteristics

  • Degree in Strength and Conditioning or related field
  • Strength and conditioning based qualification e.g. UKSCA, ASCA, NSCA
  • Strong interpersonal skills facilitating the ability to connect with a wide demographic
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A proven track record of professional development
  • Flexible and willing to take on ad-hoc tasks as this role will require holiday and weekend work hours
