Sheffield United Women are looking for a Business Development and Operations Manager to oversee the Club's Commercial and Operational functions, providing support to the Head of Women's & Girls Football in delivering the Club's strategy. The priority for the successful candidate will be to develop and deliver United Women's commercial portfolio, providing best in class services to all club partners. The Business Development and Operations Manager will also be responsible for supporting with the delivery of business operations across the Club ensuring a best-in class operational service to all stakeholders.


Role Responsibilities:

  • Partnership & Sales (50%):
    • Lead on all commercial activity relating to United Women, being the point of contact for all partners, delivering an exceptional service for all, as well as constantly thriving to push Sheffield United at the forefront of Women's Football, commercially.
    • Work alongside the Clubs Head of Women's Football and Head of Commercial to develop, implement and continuously refine the Clubs commercial growth plan.
    • Support partnership development relating to individual business area's, aligning to the Club's commercial strategy.
    • Take ownership for the delivery of the commercial strategy, working closely with stakeholders across the Club to deliver day-to-day commercial operations.
    • Become an expert in relation to the commercialisation of Women's Football, working with the League, The FA and others to continuously push for growth in this area.
    • Develop relationships with local/regional business to business (B2B) and business to consumer (B2C) markets, for all aspects of revenue generation from matchday and non-matchday opportunities.
    • Oversee commercial and hospitality delivery relating to Women's match day, including delivering sales targets for match day sponsors and hospitality.
  • Club Operations (30%):
    • Working with the Head of Women's Football, oversee and coordinate all non-football aspects of the Club, with a particular focus on first team logistics, matchday operations and club compliance.
    • Lead on the planning and delivery of First Team fixtures, including but not limited to, ticketing, hospitality and operations at home fixtures, as well as travel logistics and accommodation for away fixtures.
    • Develop and implement a Club operational plan, in line with the strategy and vision, ensuring operations across the Club and best in class.
    • Implement, and lead on a weekly operation meeting, ensuring all departments are aligned and planning appropriately.
    • Be the League, and opposition's primary contact relating to all day-to-day enquiries, and operational needs.
    • Support Head of Women's Football with budget management, working closely with other staff to ensure the purchase order system is utilised correctly.
  • Club Compliance (20%):
    • Working with the Head of Women's Football and Academy Manager, provide support in ensuring the Club is compliant in all audits, as well as providing support to the Head of Women's Football in relation to Club governance and meetings.
    • Attend Women's Football management meetings, supporting with agendas and minute taking.
    • Work with the Head of Women's Football in relation to Club support to departments when needed.

Essential Criteria for the Role:

  • Previous commercial experience
  • Track record of client/relationship management
  • Operational Management Experience
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build meaningful, strong relationships.
  • An interest and enthusiasm in developing Women's Football


Desirable Criteria for the role:

  • Previous sales and marketing experience
  • Experience of working in a sporting context
