Sheffield United Football Club is thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for an Academy Assistant Chef to join our dynamic Kitchen Department. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting and collaborating with our Academy Head Chef to craft wholesome, nourishing meals for our Academy players and colleagues.
Role Responsibilities:
- Assist the Academy Head Coach with the preparation, coordination and cooking of nutritious meals for players and colleagues within Sheffield United Training Academy.
- Support the Head Chef with the ordering of produce, sourcing the best local ingredients and researching suppliers.
- To support the kitchen department to reduce food waste by ensuring correct food availability.
- Regularly run food hygiene and health and safety audits in the kitchen and support in the supervision of the cleaning and maintenance of the kitchen department.
- Be creative with menus and to be able to understand the benefits of nutritious food to aid performance and recovery.
- Support the Academy Head Coach to create menus within a specific budget, bringing innovative menu planning to cater for a large volume of players and colleagues in accordance with the Academy timetable.
- Support the kitchen to maintain all cooking items and service items in an orderly and sanitary condition according to good hygiene-keeping practices.
- Any other reasonable requests as directed by management

Essential Criteria for the Role:
- Level 3 food hygiene certificate.
- Minimum of Level 3 City and Guilds in catering or equivalent.
- Passionate about healthy food.
- Hard working and well organised with well-established time management skills.
- Flexible with working hours to include weekends and bank holidays as per operational requirements.
Desirable Criteria for the Role:
- Experience of working in a professional sport environment.
