Sheffield United Football Club is seeking a Social Media Executive who, from idea to context production and distribution, will create social posts and campaigns that tell the story of Sheffield United across the Men's and Women's teams, Community/Fan Engagement, and commercial partner activation.


Role Responsibilities:

  • Content capture and ideation - from photography, mobile phone and video to social copy and fan engagement.
  • Attend games as matchday social media lead on a rota basis both home and away.
  • Support the wider content team in the distribution of content across X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok etc.
  • Provide best-in-class coverage of training, match fixtures (men's team and women's team) with a reactive and precise approach under pressure.
  • Contribute to hitting key KPIs and put measurement and reporting at the heart of your approach.
  • Proactively seek new opportunities for content and stories across the club's social media ecosystem.
  • Work cohesively with the wider marketing team from conception phase through to the syndication of content across channels.
  • Relationship build and manage communications with players and staff.
  • Use tools such as Adobe to edit platform specific content to achieve maximum impact and performance.
  • Work closely with the social team to ensure content is aligned, correct in tone and adheres to our wider social media strategy.
  • Stay abreast of latest social media trends and latest technologies.
  • Any other reasonable requests as directed by management.

  • To carry out/take part in training requests as directed by the Club.
  • Participate in regular sales training courses as required.

Essential Criteria for the Role:

  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms, with a specific interest in football content.
  • A content creator - comfortable using cameras and mobile phones to produce both imagery and video content.
  • Proven experience working in content production/social media.
  • Skilled in working with social media measurement tools - and ambitious and driven to exceed KPIs.
  • A natural and creative storyteller - with strong written and verbal communication and an eye for content that will resonate with our fans and followers.
  • Able to demonstrate a passion, curiosity, and fluency in digital and social media.
  • Ability to think quickly and be decisive in high pressure situations.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience using Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Lightroom and similar creation tools.
  • Must be comfortable working reactively to tight deadlines and making decisions quickly in the moment of live action.
  • A solid understanding of social and sports trends.
  • Not phased by working in the public eye with high-profile male and female athletes.
