Pay Range: The pay range for this role is $31 - $33.65 per hour

Actual base pay will be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, market demands and primary work location. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Position Overview

The People Operations Coordinator (Sharks Ice) is responsible for providing reliable HR support in all areas of people operations while optimizing the employee experience throughout the employee life cycle. This role provides HR support to managers and frontline staff at all Sharks Ice locations, including San Jose, Fremont, and Oakland, and requires regular visits to each site.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Offer day-to-day HR support to frontline employees and managers working at all ice rinks (San Jose, Fremont, Oakland)
  • Serves as the first point of contact for managers and/or employees requesting or inquiring about a leave of absence, accommodation, and worker compensation claims
  • Manage job requisitions in application tracking systems, including opening and updating job postings
  • Facilitate new employee orientations and guide the onboarding process
  • Assist managers with reviewing applications, screening, and scheduling interviews
  • Assist with providing guidance to managers and employees with performance management, progressive discipline processes, and employee relations issues, as needed
  • Process employee transactions such as new hires, promotions, transfers, compensation changes, terminations, and other people-related items in the HRIS system (SuccessFactors) for Sharks Ice and all SSE employee populations, as needed
  • Ensure data integrity and maintenance of all employee records and files across all people systems
  • Provides policy interpretation and guidance to ensure compliance with applicable policy and/or collective bargaining agreement
  • Maintain employee records in time-keeping system (ABI), including the entry of job skills and the creation of employee badge numbers
  • Support, advise, and partner with management regarding programs and policies in all areas of HR to ensure alignment and support of all HR objectives
  • Travel to and attend job fairs and career events on behalf of the Human Resources Department across the Bay Area
  • Supports compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in relevant field, preferably in human resources, business administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in human resources
  • Spanish speaking strongly preferred
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of basic Federal and California employment laws, and Union regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups of people at all levels of the organization while maintaining confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to work on multiple projects of varying priority and to assure deadlines are met while maintaining company standards
  • Ability to work some nights and evenings
  • Ability to travel to and from all ice rink locations and events
  • Proficient with Microsoft suite
  • A positive, team-oriented work ethic, with a high level of integrity is required
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to utilize a computer for extended periods of time, communicate via phone and email with a variety of individuals

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand and utilize a computer for extended periods of time
  • Communicate via phone and email with a variety of individuals
  • Ability to bend at the waist, reach overhead and lift up to 15 lbs. with or without accommodation
  • Physically navigate stairs and catwalks at SSE facilities during normal work hours and events with or without accommodation
  • Ability to work in cold conditions/environments
  • Ability to work occasional extended hours including nights, weekends, holidays (all with advance notice)
  • May be required to travel to other company locations
  • May be required to attend conference, events, and training sessions within Bay Area or in- or out-of-state locations.
