Our Story

Manchester City Women is an English football club initially founded by City in the Community in 1988. Relaunched by a formal partnership with Manchester City FC, MCWFC entered the FA Women’s Super League and professionalised in 2014. Success has followed in not only the FAWSL but also the Women’s FA Cup and Continental Tyres League Cup, while the team has regularly competed in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. ​

The team plays its home fixtures at Joie Stadium, a 7,000 capacity arena. The stadium sits on the wider Etihad Campus, which also encompasses the City Football Academy, a state-of-the-art training and development facility that houses its women’s, men’s and academy teams. ​

Our Winning Team

As a Casual Youth Development coach in Manchester City Women FC Academy, you will support the coaching of a Youth Development Phase age group and enable these individuals to maximize their potential by engaging in the design and delivery of training sessions, MDT discussions, individual learning plans, and match days.

Although assigned to a particular age group (Decided by the Academy Manager and Managing Director) you are also required to work closely together with coaches and age groups (U12-EDS) to continually evolve MCWFC’s methodology/ game model, and maximise player development, support, and progression through the player pathway both on and off the pitch. Culminating in the integration into MCWFC’s 1st team.

Your Impact

1. To assist and support an age group; coach to motivate and develop the individual players to enable them to develop into MCWFC 1st team players, whilst playing beautiful football.

2. To understand and produce key training sessions and programs to enable individual players to successfully transition from the age group to age group in line with the Club’s footballing philosophy.

3. To support the implementation and delivery of individual learning plans for your designated age group squad, whilst having an age specific understanding of Technical, Tactical, Physical, Psychological, social, and behavioural development.

4. Ability to identify individual skills and apply appropriate coaching interventions, deliver, or assist in technical and tactical development tailored to the individual player throughout the player pathway (U12 – EDS).

5. To ensure the cohesion, conflict resolution and management of the individual players to ensure high behavioural standards and a positive team ethic are maintained by the players at all times.

6. To comply with the strategy of the FA grassroots and PGA criteria as agreed by the Club, work cooperatively with all academy staff, while developing and maintaining positive relationships with the player’s parents or guardians.

7. To work closely together with coaching staff to assist and support the delivery Individual Development sessions and games. U12 – EDS.

8. Assist in the preparation and delivery of age-appropriate classroom sessions designed to enhance learning and understanding through innovative learning, recall, and reflective practices using various teaching strategies, multimedia resources, and interactive exercises to reinforce theoretical concepts and practical skills.

What we are looking for

Essential

  • Professional qualification at UEFA B/A Licence level
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical, tactical, physical and social development.
  • Knowledge and understanding of individual development.
  • Experience of working with elite level female senior players and / or youth players in an academy setting.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Current FA safeguarding certificate
  • Experience of working with children and young people
  • Knowledge of the girl’s and women’s game
  • Ability to thrive in roles which require flexible & adaptable approach.
  • Current FA safeguarding certificate
  • An understanding and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Possessing communication skills that are clear, engaging and responsive to the target audience.
  • Weekend availability
  • Full driving license and access to a vehicle

Desirable

  • Futsal specific coaching qualification
  • Teaching qualification
  • Experience of working as a technical mastery coach with foundation age group players.
  • FA Youth Award and FA Advanced Youth Award
  • IFAiF / EFAiF qualification
  • Previous experience working in an academy structure - Category 1
