In line with Manchester United’s rich history in developing young players, Manchester United Girls Academy strives to nurture young girls and women through our player pathway. Providing holistic development, life skills and opportunities to transition through from U9's to First Team football. Each players’ development is based on their individual needs and aligned to the individual, positional and team specific parameters of our Redprint.


The Purpose:

The main purpose of the role is to coach an age group with the Girls Youth Academy and implement the delivery of the Redprint coaching programme.

The Role:

The aim is to create a positive, friendly, safe, and open learning environment that:

  • Everyone wants to be part of.
  • Maximises individual player potential.
  • Amplifies team effectiveness.

The coach must be available to work Monday and Wednesday evenings at Eccles Sixth Form College and at the weekend.

Key objectives are to:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver high quality technical sessions and practices.
  • Contribute to IDP process with detailed objective and subjective feedback.
  • Plan and prepare for each match with particular emphasis on the needs of individual players.
  • To always adhere to the Manchester United development & coaching ‘Redprint’ philosophy.
  • To engage fully in CPD events organised internally and externally.
  • Support player welfare.
  • Uphold the standards of sportsmanship, behaviour and playing style expected at Manchester United.
  • Contribute towards a positive working environment.

Ensure compliance with the company’s safeguarding policy

The Person:
Generic:

  • Want to make a positive difference to young people.
  • Hard working, enthusiastic and dependable
  • People Skills (Self-assured, build rapport, empathise with others, emotionally intelligent, approachable).
  • Understanding of Safeguarding best practice
  • Knowledge of implementing policies and procedures especially health and safety and risk assessments.

Role Specific:
Knowledge

  • Of the Women and Girls game
  • Coaching Philosophies and Practices
  • Principles of Play

Experience

  • Of working in academy football (girls or boys) – Desirable
  • Coaching and mentoring young players.

Skills

  • Ability to motivate and inspire female footballers.
  • Deliver professional and high-quality sessions.
  • Delivering high quality coaching sessions to a range of age groups
  • Ability to travel independently.

Qualifications

  • Coaching Award (minimum level 2/UEFA C Licence)
  • Emergency First Aid in Football qualification
  • Valid Safeguarding Children certificate.
  • FA Youth Modules (Desirable)
