TITLE: Assistant Manager, Facility Operations

DEPARTMENT: Facilities

REPORTS TO: Manager, Operations at UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex

BASED AT: UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex (Cranberry Township, PA)

SUMMARY:

Assist Manager of Facility Operations with the overall operation of the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex including but not limited to set-up, tear-down, mechanical functionality, building cleanliness, and ice quality.

UPMC LEMIEUX SPORTS COMPLEX - PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex
  • Maintain NHL quality ice
  • Assist in hiring, training, and evaluation of all part-time staff
  • Manage part-time staff performance
  • Assist in event management
  • Oversee cleaning crew management
  • Assist the Manager of Operations in the preventive maintenance program
  • Other projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director, Business Operations, and Director of Facility Operations

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of 4+ years ice arena management experience
  • Must have experience supervising part-time staff
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have outstanding customer service skills and Microsoft Office abilities
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends

COMPENSATION:

  • This is a full-time, salaried position.
  • Compensation based on experience.

FACILITY OVERVIEW:

The UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex is a state-of-the-art, hockey-specific training facility located just north of Pittsburgh in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. A joint venture between the Pittsburgh Penguins and their world-renowned sports medicine partner, UPMC the $70 million complex was one of the first medical facilities in the country to focus specifically on hockey-related training, testing, rehabilitation, and injury prevention.

The official training facility for the Pittsburgh Penguins includes two NHL-sized ice rinks, professional locker rooms, an NHL-quality weight room, and fourteen locker rooms. The facility is also the home of Pittsburgh Penguins Elite, EXCEL Hockey Academy, North Catholic High School Hockey, and Mighty Penguins Sled Hockey.

In addition to hockey, the facility offers a number of community programs including Learn to Skate, Public Skate, Corporate Meetings, and fundraising events.
