Job Description:

Summary:

The New York Mets are seeking applicants for a Minor League Performance Nutrition Associate that would assist the Minor League Performance Nutrition Coordinator and other full-time sports dietitian with nutrition services provided to NY Mets MiLB athletes. This person will oversee one of the NY Mets Minor League Affiliate teams, locations - Syracuse, NY, Binghamton, NY, Brooklyn, NY or Port St. Lucie, Florida. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Development and dissemination of performance nutrition education materials

  • Procurement of nutrition supplements, food, and snacks for assigned affiliate team

  • Collaboration with in-house and out of house catering staffs to ensure congruity with menu development and the NY Mets Performance Nutrition standards. This will include assisting with menu development and setting up away game meal services.

  • Perform individual nutrition consults with athletes (under direction from MiLB Performance Nutrition Coordinator). This will include counseling athletes on dietary supplement use and providing medical nutrition therapy to aid in health and performance of athletes.

  • Serving as an effective member of the Performance Department that includes the following disciples: Athletics Training, Reconditioning, Strength and Conditioning, Sports Science, and Mental Performance.

  • Travel with assigned affiliate team to all away games

  • Other duties as assigned by the MiLB Performance Nutrition Coordinator

Qualifications:

  • Registered Dietitian or on a path to becoming a Registered Dietitian

  • At least 6 months experience in sports nutrition at the collegiate or professional level

  • Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of professionalism

  • A positive, friendly, and collaborative personality with a passion for assisting others in achieving their goals

  • Must be able to work unconventional hours (Ex. weekends, evenings, holidays, etc.)

  • Willing and able to travel with an affiliate on road trips for at least 7 days at a time

  • Strong desire to be a part of a collaborative and integrative environment that supports professional development and professional excellence
