Android Engineer

SUMMARY
We are seeking a talented and experienced Android Engineer to join our growing native app team. As a member of our development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the NHL's Android application. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable, and high-performance solutions that are seen by millions of users.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and implement advanced features for our Android applications using Kotlin and Java
  • Experience designing and developing high-quality, maintainable, and scalable UIs using Jetpack Compose
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define requirements and prioritize features
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices and coding standards
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality, performance, and adherence to development guidelines
  • Optimize application performance, memory usage, and battery consumption
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest Android development trends, tools, and technologies
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues reported by QA or users
  • Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-4 years of professional experience in Android development using Kotlin and/or Java
  • Strong understanding of the Android SDK, Android Studio, and Gradle
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, and third-party libraries integration
  • Familiarity with Git or other version control systems
  • Solid understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and best practices

EDUCATION

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
