Director, Media

MLS is seeking a Director who will lead business operations and strategic project management for the MLS Media Team, focusing on live match and content production and acting as the day-to-day contact for Apple for production matters.


  • Collaborate with the Apple Partnerships team and serve as the day-to-day contact for Apple for production related matters.
  • Cross-functional project management/leadership of media, content, and production initiatives that impact the MLS Media Team and the broader organization, both short term and long-term planning projects.
  • Strategically analyze current operations and identify and execute operational efficiencies across the MLS Media team (e.g., processes and procedures to achieve improved business practices).
  • Negotiate vendor agreements, working closely with MLS Media department leads to identify vendor synergies.
  • Support creation of presentation materials for Executive and Board of Governors audiences.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • MBA or business administration training or certifications is desirable.
  • 8+ years of proven experience in business operations and/or project management in a sports or media environment.

  • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment and collaborate across departments within the broader organization.
  • Proven ability to successfully lead project management for complicated initiatives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Superior organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to negotiate sensitive matters and work collaboratively to identify solutions.
  • Commitment to building positive team environments and demonstrated experience in leadership situations.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Desired Skills

  • Bilingual preferred (English / Spanish).
  • Knowledge of the sport of soccer and soccer ecosystem.
  • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Total Rewards

Starting Base Salary: $115,000 – $150,000. MLS/SUM base salaries are contingent upon several factors including individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
