The Manager, Player Marketing Operations is a member of the Player Marketing team, and is primarily responsible for managing the team that creates and distributes original content for MLB playersโ€™ social media accounts in the mission to build and elevate their individual brands. This role will actively collaborate with the department leader and peer(s) to identify social media opportunities and resources to support player brand-building efforts.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

  • 4 year degree from an accredited university in marketing, advertising, communications, business, or related field and 4+ years experience in marketing or related functional area; OR equivalent relevant experience

  • Proficiency in Google, and Microsoft office applications and Asana

  • Demonstrated knowledge of current social trends

  • Proficiency with mainstream social media platforms and Greenfly application

  • Experience working directly with athletes (whether at a club, league or agency) preferred

  • Baseball and sports enthusiast preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Conducting Core Work Activities

  • Partners with players and their representatives to identify and leverage various brand-building resources by way of the Player Marketing Team at MLB

  • Collaborates with department leader to understand strategic opportunities for players to build or elevate their brand with new audiences to introduce and engage new audiences to Major Leagues Baseball

  • Manages the player social program by providing photos, videos, in-game highlights, custom graphics, and hype videos to players via the Greenfly app

  • Manages repository of social media assets which players are proactively provided, or can request on-demand from the player social team

  • Oversees team of social coordinators to distribute and create engaging content that can be provided directly to players or archived in internal repositories for future use as needed

  • Serves as an additional resource or point of escalation within the player marketing team, to provide seamless, accessible social content on a consistent basis to build strong, personal social feeds

  • Extends social media resources to select prospects and MiLB players

  • Explores and makes recommendations for expanding the opportunities, offerings, and resources provided by the player social team

  • Oversees the player request process by which marketers make requests of MLB players for appearances on MLB platforms

  • Leads communication between Player Marketing and other stakeholders as it pertains to player requests, player appearances on MLB platforms, and additional matters of Player Marketing business

  • Tracks player requests and provides insights to stakeholders to help improve the effectiveness and efficiency of overall process

Per the NYC pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is $75,000 to $110,000.
