Position Profile: Communications Seasonal Assistant
Department: Communications
Reports to: Vice President of Communications
Status: Seasonal, Hourly

JOB SUMMARY: Assists the Communications Department with all internal and external communications and media logistics.


  • Assists in the research, compilation and distribution of press materials, including press releases, daily clips, game notes and statistics.
  • Sends email of daily clippings to key members of the organization every morning.
  • Transcribes all player, coach and personnel media availabilities.
  • Facilitates interviews with players, coaches and front-office personnel in conjunction with other staff.
  • Compiles prep sheets for coaches prior to media availabilities.
  • Writes, updates and maintains sections of Chiefs online media guide.
  • Updates player roster, transactions and depth chart.
  • Assists with player bios, statistics, and general information as well as edits and proofs the weekly release.
  • Assists with press-box and production meeting set-up for home games.
  • Charts player participation and tracks big plays and assists full-time staff with compilation of game notes.
  • Corral on-field media for pre-game introductions.
  • Handles fan and media telephone calls as needed.
  • Assists with corporate communications at all extra events.


  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Public Relations, Communications or Sports Management.
  • One to three years experience in public relations or sports information with a professional sports franchise, college sports information department or sports environment.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to relate to high-profile athletes and media.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Organizational skills and ability to work under strict deadlines.
  • Willingness to work long hours, weekends and some holidays.


  • 40 hours per week and events/game days.
  • Starting July 8, 2024 and working through June 1, 2025.


  • Light office duties and activities.
