Summary/Objective
This role provides all aspects of administrative support to the Baseball Operations - General Manager (and, at times, the business operations senior leadership team); as well as act as the organization’s administrative liaison for Astros minority owners.

This position requires proven business operations experience working with members of senior-level leadership to assist and enable operation at its highest level.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Support the General Manager (baseball operations) in all operational and administrative needs both in-season and offseason as a liaison, problem solver and facilitator.
  • Responsible for support of Astros minority ownership as related to Houston Astros baseball communications and activities for which minority ownership is eligible.
  • Nurture strong relationships with key organizational stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Responsible for the office operations of business processes, office events, internal/external communication and initiating system & process improvements.
  • Coordinate domestic and international travel for the business operations senior leadership team, as necessary.
  • Coordinate logistics for any Astros events (e.g., Spring Training, All-Star, etc.), arrange travel plans and prepare and submit senior leadership expense reports, as necessary.
  • Opens, screens and distributes mail, shipments, etc.; directs mail to other departments as appropriate; prepares outgoing mail, faxes, shipments, etc. including special handling requirements such as overnight delivery.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic with a sense of urgency and ownership. Make decisions quickly and effectively using good judgment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years’ experience in administrative roles supporting executive level management.
  • Reliable, self-driven individual who is resourceful and hardworking.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities/needs.
  • Keen attention to detail with ability to meet hard deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent organizational skills.
  • A curious person with strong business acumen and ability to anticipate needs and act.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with the highest level of discretion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.

Work Environment

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud within the stadium environment.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit (for long periods of time); use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and focused vision. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and while core hours of business are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position will require a flexible schedule according to baseball operations executive requirements/needs.

Travel

Rare travel may be expected for this position.
