The Ideal Candidate:

The perfect candidate will possess a robust understanding of payroll and taxes (State, Local, and International), several years of experience utilizing ADP and WorkforceNow payroll systems, strong communication, and exceptional problem-solving skills.

Job Summary:

The Senior Payroll Coordinator will be part of a small team reporting to the Director, Payroll and will be responsible for preparing and processing several payrolls for a range of employees (e.g. Canadian, Seasonal, Union). This role operates within strict deadlines to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time. The Senior Coordinator work collaboratively across Finance, Legal, Human Resources, and other related parties to ensure accuracy and compliance across payroll processing and employee data. This role will work successfully in a team environment while providing leadership in process improvements and system implementations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes and other deductions.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Run a variety of ad hoc and custom reports utilizing the analytics module in ADP.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Facilitates audit by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Balances the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll , including multi-state and international payroll, and payroll tax filings and compliance (experience in sports or entertainment industry strongly preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now
  • Knowledge of union payrolls and union contracts preferred
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive material with integrity
  • Ability to address, adapt to, and overcome challenges in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and ADP payroll software
  • Demonstrates Chicago Blackhawks core values of integrity, curiosity, empathy, collaboration, and originality
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours in support of Company events as requested
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Relevant certifications (i.e., Certified Payroll Professional) preferred
