Coordinator of Event Security

Position Overview

You will be an active member of the Spectrum Center security team. You will be responsible for assisting with overseeing security for all Spectrum Center events event security personnel. The Coordinator of Event Security is also responsible for collaborating across the department to maintain and improve all functions and operations of Spectrum Center security. In addition, you will assist department leadership with all aspects of the Security for all guests, media, and employees during non-event and event times at Spectrum Center.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Communicate to the Manager of Event Security about changing or critical situations at Spectrum Center.
  • Be point of contact in absence of Manager of Event Security
  • Maintain working relationships with other HSE Departments, CRVA, government entities (CMPD, CFD, etc.), NBA, and Contractors.
  • Assisting the Manager of Event Security maintain the overall health and well-being of Event Security, Hiring, Training, Managing, Daily Operations, and Long-Term Planning.
  • Facilitate and track training programs for HSE part-time staff including but not limited to recruiting, new hire processing, orientation training, job specific training and as well as supervisor training for contracted support.
  • Facilitate training programs for staff including but not limited to orientation, job specific training, supervisory training, and emergency procedures.
  • Assist with implementation of program to evaluate and increase development, training, and culture.
  • Assist in building deployments and staffing levels for all events.
  • Assist with management of event dispatch.
  • Manage uniform distribution for department.
  • Receive and resolve complaints from guests, clients and employees according to established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain all security related equipment including wands, radios, magnetometers, etc.
  • Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.

Required Skills, Experience and Abilities

To perform the job successfully, you will have or demonstrate the following skills and abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferred.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Presents self in professional manner and has the ability to interact with all levels of organization and outside contacts.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Interpersonal skills –listens to others, works well in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills including written and verbal; ability to present ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules.
  • Planning and organizing, can prioritize work activities; uses time efficiently.
  • Adaptability – adapts to change in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to handle frequent changes.
  • Dependability – consistently at work on time, follows instructions, responds to manager’s instructions.
  • Strong computer skills – including all Microsoft Office software programs.
  • Be customer-service oriented, without compromising the security of the facility, have a fan-friendly attitude and a professional appearance at all times.
  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands to handle or feel, and climb stairs. Position could place applicant in situations that may require use of physical force to resolve situations.
  • Occasional lifting of boxes or equipment such as fire extinguishers
  • Flexibility to work extended and/or irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays for games and events, as needed.
  • Ability to attend all Spectrum Center events.
