Position Overview

The Greensboro Swarm is the NBA G League team owned and operated by Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE). The Account Executive, Group Sales focus will be to sell new group accounts, including fan experiences programs (FEP’s) to decision makers within schools, churches, youth groups, basketball groups, local business and non-profit organizations. You will work independently on assignments and must be able to interface with all levels of HSE.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prospect lists of local area companies and organizations
  • Complete daily cold calls to set up appointments to sell group tickets
  • Actively meet or exceed weekly and monthly sales goals in the areas of group ticket sales
  • Maintain computerized records of all group customers and other ticket packages regarding the team’s customer relations database
  • Main selling focus on group sales as well as selling other ticket packages including season tickets, partial season, luxury products and mini plans
  • Build and cultivate beneficial relationships with existing and new accounts
  • Manage all incoming sales calls from group sales prospects
  • Develop professional relationships with current clients for group outing renewals and referral leads
  • Meet and exceed weekly and monthly appointment goals
  • Create and activate new theme nights and group outings
  • Sell and activate fan experiences on a game-by-game basis

Required Skills, Experience, and Abilities

To perform the job successfully, you should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • You should be a self-starter with a positive attitude
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Sports Management, Marketing or related field
  • Be customer service and fan experience oriented
  • At least one-year of successful group sales experience
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality
  • Present yourself in a professional manner as you interact with all levels of the organization and outside contacts
  • Interpersonal skills –listens to others, works well in a team environment
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Programs, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills including written and verbal; ability to present ideas clearly and concisely
  • Ability to build relationships through networking
  • Planning and organizing, can prioritize work activities; uses time efficiently
  • Flexibility – adapts to change in the work environment and manages competing demands
  • Dependability – consistently at work on time and responds to manager’s instructions
  • Ability to work extended hours including nights, weekends, holidays and travel as needed
  • Thrive in a dynamic, deadline driven environment
