The Director, Business Strategy and Analytics (BSA) is responsible for leading cross-departmental projects using analytical insights and strategic solutions to improve the Hurricanes’ business. This position will work across Hurricanes’ and affiliate business operations teams to collaborate on solutions and implement new initiatives. The Director will be the leader and a key contributor to the department’s mission of increasing long-term revenue, improving the fan experience, and creating operational efficiency. This role requires a revenue generation and organizational growth mindset, process driven leadership, and the ability to articulate technical solutions to organizational leaders.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Be a leader in driving and supporting strategic initiatives across business units including ticket sales and service, premium sales, marketing, corporate partnerships, parking and traffic, arena operations, and retail/ merchandise
  • Identify and act upon new revenue opportunities, increase operational efficiency, and improve the fan experience
  • Serve as leader and mentor for the analytics team, including creating targeted individual professional growth plans and managing resource allocation internally and across the organization
  • Lead BSA staff to develop project work, support their professional development, and maximize the team's total output
  • Extract meaningful observations and insights from research and data sets to support fact-based decision-making
  • Empower business owners to leverage the information available to them and support high level decision-making
  • Coordinate and fulfill NHL League reporting requests across business domains as needed
  • Identify opportunities to share best practices across our business and support process changes
  • Present data insights and recommendations to stakeholders from Executives to front-line staff
  • Maintain and operate responsibly within a department budget
  • Manage and maintain healthy external vendor and partner relationships
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience & Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, computer science, statistics, or other data-related discipline
  • 5+ years of related experience business, statistics, consulting, finance, sports and entertainment, or related fields
  • Experience leading projects and interacting with clients and/or leaders in other business units
  • Strong understanding of statistics e.g., predictive modeling, hypothesis testing, and experimental design
  • Strong familiarity with data warehouses and third-party services, such as KORE, and programming languages (e.g., SQL)
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience working with data visualization (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI)
  • Experience administrating Salesforce products such Sales Cloud (CRM) and/or Marketing Cloud
  • Strong presentation skills, attention to detail and promptness
  • Ability to motivate team and inspire high performance
  • Prominent level of business acumen, creative problem-solving abilities, and professionalism.
  • Ability to learn quickly and be resourceful.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.

Preferred

  • Master’s or Postgraduate Degree
  • Experience with R, Python, or other statistical programming languages.
  • Experience with Ticketmaster products such as LiveAnalytics
  • Experience designing and authoring primary research surveys.
