Summary

The Assistant Controller is responsible for developing and implementing accounting policy, procedures, and processes, oversees general ledger accounting, and review of financial reporting across the portfolio of entities. The Assistant Controller will supervise Accounting Managers and Senior Accountants, implement and monitor financial controls, design account reconciliation methodology and process, maintain consistent documentation standards, and lead other finance projects as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establish consistent accounting policies and procedures including transaction, reconciliation and review processes, formats, templates, and documentation standards.
  • Establish deadlines for the month end close schedule, review financial statements, and maintain reporting within GAAP standards on audited entities.
  • Train and develop GAAP accounting competencies and audit management skillset and support professional development of accounting team.
  • Collaborate extensively with other departments to share information, properly understand, and report operations results, and support business decisions.
  • Lead and support GAAP audits, and management of insurance, sales tax, income tax, payroll tax, and other compliance audits and routine filings.
  • Process improvement including identifying inefficiencies, process design, automation, AIS system component implementations and upgrades.
  • Participate in recruitment, mentoring, and staff development for junior department members.
  • Cross-training, institutional knowledge redundancies, and skillset building at all levels of the accounting department.
  • Design and implementation of financial controls.
  • Maintains the utmost confidentiality as applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications for the Position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ progressive accounting experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience
  • Microsoft 365 suite, Adobe Acrobat competency required.
  • Great Plains, Jet Reporting, Docuware, Job Router, KORE experience preferred.

The pay for this role is $98,000-$125,000. NOTE: Wages will be determined based on factors such as candidate experience, qualifications, skill set and internal equity.
