The Role of Academy Analyst (YDP)

The successful candidate will work within the Academy Performance Analysis department and will be responsible for coordinating the analysis of the YDP age groups (U9-U16). They will oversee and deliver the Academy Analysis Programme throughout all the YDP age groups (U9-U16), ensuring each player receives a best-in-class performance analysis provision, providing the optimum environment for individual & collective development.

Main Accountabilities

  • Manage the filming of all games, training and any other necessary sessions for the U9-U16 age groups.
  • Manage the coding of all games & training sessions for the U9-U16 age groups, which will be aligned and relevant to each age group.
  • Provide each player with individual clips from each game.
  • Coordinate the sharing of all video footage and coded events with staff & players via Hudl and distributing any relevant information/data collected with the wider Academy staff.
  • Maintain a consistent, daily, databasing process which is aligned throughout all Academy age groups. Storing clips into match, training & individual databases to reinforce the Academy Coaching Programme and streamline the Analysis process.
  • Work in collaboration with Academy Coaches, in accordance with the ‘Plan, Do, Review’ process, to efficiently deliver the Analysis Programme to the highest standard. Also work in collaboration with the Lead Academy Analyst & U18s Analyst.
  • Deliver pre-match, live and post-match analysis that aligns with the Academy’s Development Philosophy, implements key learning points from the Academy Coaching Programme, and supports the individual development of each player.
  • Ensure all analysis content delivered is varied and bespoke to maximise player engagement within the programme.
  • Tracking individual statistics for each player on a game & season basis, aiding in the development of the Academy’s player profiling.
  • Logging and tracking all other relevant information for each individual player. (Match minutes, training minutes, analysis sessions, etc.).
  • Provide constant technical support to all players, equipping them with the skills to perform their own analysis.
  • Manage, organise and utilise a team of part-time analysis students to help deliver the Academy’s Analysis Programme.
  • Complete any other additional tasks as requested by the Lead Academy Analyst, Academy Management Team and Academy Director.
  • To ensure that any concerns you observe, or are raised with you in your role, are shared with the Safeguarding Team through appropriate channels.

Person Specification - Essential Personal Characteristics

  • A dynamic, hardworking individual who is passionate about their work within the sport
  • Display a consistently high level of organisational skills. Effective at preparing, planning and implementing workloads and schedules
  • A proactive decision maker with excellent communication skills, optimising the ability to work alongside other departments
  • A positive, proactive and enthusiastic attitude to maintaining good relationships within the Analysis Department and wider Academy staff
  • A high level of detail to all pieces of work produced, coupled with the ability to work under pressure & meet deadlines
  • Able to work unsociable hours as required (sometimes involving work outside normal office hours i.e. evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays)
  • A strong technical & tactical knowledge of the sport and familiar with fundamental footballing principles on a collective and individual level
  • Experience working within an elite football environment
  • Experience using analysis-related software (Hudl, Angles, RT Tactic Pro, WyScout, Tableau, Keynote, Excel or similar)
  • Understands Health & Safety principles and practices
