Arsenal Community Coach Development Programme (Voluntary)
The Role
The Arsenal in the Community Coach Development Programme offers an exciting opportunity to get involved in community football coaching with Arsenal Football Club, both in London and overseas.
The programme runs from September to July each year.
Based in London, at The Arsenal Hub, our coaches undertake a comprehensive programme of coach education from our team of experienced coaches and industry experts, and gain experience by leading and supporting sessions across our range of Arsenal in the Community projects.
Upon completion of the initial stages of delivery, coaches may be offered the opportunity to travel abroad to support our work around the world. Placements in 2023 included supporting The Arsenal Foundation’s Coaching for Life programme in Za’atari Refugee Camp in Jordan, and multiple summer placements in the USA.
Our coaches also have the choice to remain in London if they do not wish to travel abroad. Either way our coaches will undertake a bespoke work programme that allows them to continue their development and supports them towards achieving their next step beyond the programme.
Your day-to-day
- Assisting with the planning and delivery of first-class coaching at designated projects using the Arsenal in the Community philosophies and training methods.
- Supporting your Session Lead and ensuring all appropriate policies and procedures from the Club or those of any host organisation are adhered to.
- Liaising with teachers and parents/guardians in a professional manner.
- Leading and assisting session delivery across our range of Arsenal in the Community projects.
- Ensuring the health and safety of all sessions.
- Committing to a programme of Coach Education training sessions and Development Reviews with the Project Coordinator, when requested.
- Ensuring all documentation is provided in a timely manner for enrolment onto the programme, as well as for all UK and overseas placements, courses or other needs as requested by the Project Coordinator.
What we are looking for
The Coach Development Programme is built on inclusivity and is open to anyone aged 18 or above. No coaching or playing experience is required. All you need is:

The Cost:
The cost of the programme will be £550 for those with the FA Intro to Coaching Football and £650 for those without.
Please note that the Coach Development Programme is unpaid and requires travel to the Arsenal Hub and the surrounding area (namely Islington, Hackney and Camden) 5 days a week, often during peak hours. It is essential that volunteers are able to cover their own expenses, including accommodation and travel, as Arsenal will not be able to contribute towards these costs.
